APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING A CUSHIONING PRODUCT
Described is an apparatus for manufacturing a cushioning product from an elongate paper strip, said apparatus comprising at least one cover in the area of an exit region of the finished cushioning product. Said first cover is releasably connected to the apparatus by means of a linear guide.
ARRANGEMENT FOR PRODUCING EMBOSSED CUSHIONING MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING EMBOSSED CUSHIONING MATERIAL
An arrangement for producing embossed cushioning material from an initially flat material comprises an embossing device for providing a plurality of embossed protrusions to the material, an undulating device comprising undulated forming spaces which creates undulations in the initially flat material prior to the undulated material being provided to the embossing device, and a conveying means for conveying the initially flat material along a transport path in a continuous process through the undulated forming spaces. It is that suggested that the undulating device, seen in the direction of the transport path, comprises at least two stages each comprising an undulated forming space, the undulated forming space of a downstream stage differing in number and/or height of undulations from the undulated forming space of an upstream stage.
COMPACT DUNNAGE CONVERSION MACHINE
A dunnage conversion machine is provided for converting a sheet stock material into a relatively lower density dunnage product as it moves downstream through the conversion machine. The conversion machine includes a forming assembly configured to inwardly gather sheet stock material, and a feeding assembly downstream of the forming assembly. The forming assembly includes a converging chute with an inlet and a relatively smaller outlet downstream of the inlet, the converging chute being aligned along a converging axis. The feeding assembly has a pair of rotatable members rotatable about respective parallel axes of rotation. The rotatable members are arranged to feed sheet stock material from the forming assembly downstream of the feeding assembly, the rotating members defining a feed axis perpendicular to a line connecting and perpendicular to the axes of rotation. The conversion machine is characterized by the converging axis being transverse rather than aligned with the feed axis.
Guide member with expansion element for inflation and sealing assembly
The present disclosure is directed to a web inflation and sealing apparatus. The device may include a support member for holding a supply of web material and sealing apparatus may include an inflation and a sealing assembly operable to inflate the web material with a fluid by directing the fluid between superimposed plies of the web material and to seal the plies together to seal the fluid therein. The apparatus may include a guide member positioned between the support member and the inflation and sealing assembly such that when the web material is routed from the supply toward the inflation and sealing assembly via the guide member the web material follows a curved longitudinal path. The guide member may define a web-supporting surface extending transversely to the longitudinal path with an elevated profile portion defining at least a portion of the web-supporting surface.
DUNNAGE CONVERSION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR EXPANDING PRE-SLIT SHEET STOCK MATERIAL
A dunnage conversion system for expanding an unexpanded slit sheet stock material to form an expanded dunnage product. The dunnage conversion system includes a converging chute to inwardly gather laterally-extending edges of sheet stock material towards one another, causing random crumpling of the sheet stock material to form a modified ply. The conversion system also includes feed wheels that advance the modified ply through the converging chute and pinch rollers that cooperate with the feed wheels to expand the modified ply traveling between the feed wheels and the pinch rollers to form a dunnage product. The expanded dunnage product is expanded both in a longitudinal feed direction and in thickness as compared to the unexpanded slit sheet stock material, and thus is a three-dimensional product having increased volume and lower density per unit of length as compared to the unexpanded slit sheet stock material.
Dunnage conversion machine and method
A dunnage conversion machine converts a sheet stock material into a dunnage product that is relatively thicker and less dense than the stock material. The conversion machine includes a conversion assembly that draws the sheet stock material therethrough and randomly crumples at least a portion of the sheet stock material. Before severing a discrete dunnage product of a desired length from the substantially continuous length of sheet stock material, the random crumpling is minimized or eliminated in an area to be cut to reduce or eliminate the production of scrap shards of sheet stock material during the cutting operation.
APPARATUS HAVING AN ELECTRIC MOTOR FOR PROVIDING PACKAGING MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR OPERATING A PACKAGING MATERIAL-PROVISIONING APPARATUS
An apparatus for providing packaging material (e.g. a corrugated board web section or a paper cushioning material strand) by manipulating (e.g. deforming, conveying and/or separating) a fiber starting material (e.g. a single or multi-ply paper web or a corrugated board web) may include at least one working device to be driven mechanically by at least one electric motor having a stationary stator and a rotor mounted movably thereto. An excitation current may be applied to a coil arrangement of the rotor or of the stator. The motor may be free of an electrical contact coupling for transmitting the excitation current between the stator and the rotor, and may include a detector to detect the position of the rotor. The working device may be a deformation device (e.g. a pair of deformation wheels), a conveyor (e.g. a pair of conveyor wheels), or a separating device (e.g. a rotary or translational cutter).
Device for machine-making a dunnage product
In a device for machine-making a dunnage product from a single- or multi-ply continuous paper web comprising a delivery conveyor for drawing in a paper web into the device whereby a conveying direction is defined and a cutter for separating the dunnage product from a three-dimensional strand of dunnage material formed from the paper web within the device, it is provided that a removal conveyor succeeds in the conveying direction to the cutter, the removal conveyor transporting the separated dunnage product away from the cutter.
DUNNAGE APPARATUS CARTON FILLER
Disclosed is a dunnage apparatus, including a converting station and a deflector. The converting station converts a line of high-density supply material into low-density dunnage and ejects the dunnage at an exit in an exit trajectory along a path. The deflector is repositionable with respect to the exit between a first position, in which the deflector is interposed in the path to deflect the path of the dunnage from the exit trajectory to a first deflected trajectory, and a second position. The deflector is retained in each position during the ejection of the dunnage.
EXPANDED SLIT SHEET VOID FILL DISPENSING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
The present invention provides void fill dispenser systems and methods that highly effectively enable the easy and usable creation of void fill with expanded slit sheet paper in a manner unattainable in the existing art. According to some illustrative embodiments, a void fill dispenser is provided that advantageously dispenses unique void fill in a manner not previously possible. In some embodiments, the void fill dispenser is made with a recyclable material, such as, e.g., a corrugated box made from paper. In some embodiments, the void fill dispenser is made with metal and/or other rigid and/or non-recyclable materials. In some embodiments, the void fill dispenser can comprise an automated metal dispensing system that dispenses expanded slit sheet paper particularly for void fill in an automated manner.
