A cushioning member includes: an accommodating bag portion that accommodates a medium; a first fusing portion that defines the accommodating bag portion such that the accommodating bag portion is provided with an opening; a check valve having a first end located inside the accommodating bag portion and a second end located outside the accommodating bag portion, and provided at the opening; a second fusing portion that is immediately adjacent to the first fusing portion on those external sides of the check valve which are opposite in a direction intersecting a direction in which the check valve protrudes from the accommodating bag portion, and defines a channel that communicates with the opening; and a third fusing portion that is connected to the second fusing portion and seals the channel, the third fusing portion being provided across a portion of the check valve that protrudes from the accommodating bag portion.
DUNNAGE CONVERSION MACHINE FOR PRODUCING A DUNNAGE PAD HAVING SLIT-SHEET MATERIAL THEREIN
A dunnage conversion machine includes (i) a pair of gripping rollers configured to rotate at a first rotational speed to advance a slit-sheet material in a downstream direction; (ii) a pair of expansion rollers configured to rotate at a second rotational speed, faster than the first rotational speed, creating a stretching force on the slit-sheet material and further advancing the slit-sheet material, causing expansion of the slit-sheet material to a fully expanded state; and (iii) a pair of relaxation rollers configured to rotate at a third rotational speed, slower than the second rotational speed, reducing the stretching force and further advancing the slit-sheet material, allowing the slit-sheet material to relax to a partially expanded state. The pair of relaxation rollers (iii) also are configured to capture the slit-sheet material in the partially expanded state between a top cover sheet and a bottom cover sheet to form a dunnage pad.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PROCESSING A STRAND OF CUSHIONING MATERIAL, AND CUSHIONING MATERIAL COIL
An apparatus for processing a strand of dunnage material, such as a coil of dunnage material, may include a winding device configured to wind the strand of dunnage material around a winding center, and an adhesive tape dispenser aligned with the winding device. The adhesive tape dispenser may be configured such that the adhesive tape dispensed by the dispenser is applied to an outer end layer of the strand of dunnage material when the outer end layer is wound around the winding center. The dunnage material may be produced by a dunnage forming machine from a web-shaped starting material, such as a roll or a leporello stack, for example of paper.
Deflatable inflatable web
A protective packaging web is disclosed. The web includes a flexible inflatable web that includes inflatable chambers having inlets and configured for receiving a fluid from the inlets and sealing the fluid therein, the inflatable chambers being configured such that, when inflated, the inflatable web structure has a first contoured exterior surface including a plurality of peaks and valleys, and a flexible first outer ply affixed to the peaks and detached from the valleys of the first contoured surface, such that when the inflatable chambers are inflated, the first outer ply extends along a phantom first tangential surface, bridging the valleys of the first contoured surface, such that when the chambers are inflated the affixed first outer ply and the inflatable web cooperatively form a framed structure having significantly elevated bending stiffness compared to a bending stiffness resulting from the inflatable web structure absent the attached first outer ply.
Method and system for forming domed paper and structures
A method and system for forming domes or protruded structures in a flat material such as paper is disclosed. The method includes cutting one or more sheets; applying an adhesive between the one or more sheets, joining the one or more sheets together in a registered manner to form a substrate, encapsulating the one or more sheets in a container to prevent curing of the adhesive, opening the container, and pressing the adhesive under pressure to shape the substrate into a desired shape may include the domes or protruded structures.
DUNNAGE CONVERSION MACHINE, METHOD, AND PRODUCT WITH A POLYGONAL CROSS-SECTION
A machine for converting a sheet material into a relatively less dense dunnage product includes a forming assembly and a feeding assembly downstream of the forming assembly. The forming assembly is configured to cause lateral edges of the sheet material to roll towards one another, forming a tubular shape. A deflector at a downstream end of the forming assembly is configured to engage the lateral edges of the sheet material and to urge the lateral edges into an interior of the tubular shape. This juxtaposes lateral edge portions of the sheet material adjacent the respective lateral edges. A forming channel at a downstream end of the forming assembly faces the deflector to receive the lateral edge portions and shape them into a tab. Finally, the feeding assembly includes rotating connecting members that engage and connect together the overlapping lateral edge portions of the sheet material forming the tab.
DUNNAGE PRODUCTION SYSTEM
A dunnage producing system is disclosed. The system comprises a material feed section configured to feed a sheet stock material into the system to convert it into a dunnage product. The system further comprises a drive belt having a plurality of lugs fixed on the drive belt configured to engage one or more die-cut openings in the sheet stock or roll stock material. The system further comprises one or more folding mandrels and a glue feed section. The folding mandrels capture the engaged sheet stock or roll stock material between the drive belt and folding mandrels. the glue feed section comprises a tank loaded with pre-melted adhesive material, a hose to transfer the post melted adhesive materials, and a dispensing nozzle to pump the melted adhesive material to the sheet stock material. A controller then receives measurement information and control the functions of the system to produce dunnage product.
PACKAGING APPARATUS FOR FILM INFLATION AND METHOD THEREOF
A packaging apparatus with an improved pinch roller apparatus, fluid supply apparatus, and/or a sealing apparatus. The pinch roller apparatus (e.g., comprising one or more guide and/or pinch rollers) is used to deliver film material to the fluid supply apparatus (e.g., nozzle and blower apparatus, or the like) that fills one or more chambers of the film material with fluid (e.g., air, gas, or other like fluid), and the film material is then sealed by a sealing apparatus (e.g., using one or more heating elements with an improved temperature sensor configuration) that seals the fluid within the one or more chambers in order to form the inflated article (e.g., inflated packaging material). In particular, the sealing apparatus provides improved sealing through the improved accuracy of the temperature reading in the heating zone, in part, by locating a sensor between a heating element and a protective member that covers the sensor.
Inflatable packaging structure and method of forming thereof
An inflatable packaging structure, including at least one inflatable panel made of a plurality of layers of thermoplastic material, the at least one inflatable panel includes a plurality of fluid chambers, whereas a one-way check valve is incorporated into at least one of the plurality of fluid chambers, an air supply line, configured to commonly communicate with each of the one-way check valves to supply fluid into the fluid chambers; and at least two heat sealed edges formed on the at least one inflatable panel, each of which is configured to attach a portion of the at least one inflatable panel to another portion thereof; and wherein the at least two heat sealed edges extend generally in parallel with respect to each other and configured to form the inflatable packaging structure with at least partially rectangular cross-section, having at least four faces.
