Paper crumpling machine
A machine for pulling paper off of a roll and crumpling the paper increasing the surface area and bulk of the compressible crumpled paper. The crumpled paper is used as packing material, cushioning packaged parts and filling package voids.
METHOD FOR INFLATING AIRBAGS
A system and method for inflating airbags include a series of pulleys arranged in two parallel rows. Each pulley has its periphery defined as a semicircular concave groove that extends between two edges, wherein the semicircular concave grooves form a tunnel. Each pulley in the first row can rotate clockwise, while each pulley in the second row rotates anticlockwise. A cylindrical air tube can be positioned in the tunnel wherein the air tube is connected to a compressed air source at an end. The air tube has spaced apertures along its length and an airbag with two flaps can be mounted on the inflation system, wherein the two flaps are pressed over the air tube by the pair of pulleys and each pair of pulleys can drag the flaps on the air tube.
AN EMBOSSED WRAPPING MATERIAL
An embossed wrapping material for protectively cushioning an article comprises a plurality of embossed protrusions, wherein the plurality of embossed protrusions comprises first protrusions, extending in a first direction and second protrusions extending in a second direction, the second direction being opposite to the first direction. At least regionally the embossed wrapping material comprises a plurality of first creases created during or prior to embossing the protrusions.
ARRANGEMENT FOR PRODUCING EMBOSSED CUSHIONING MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING EMBOSSED CUSHIONING MATERIAL
An arrangement for producing embossed cushioning material from an initially flat material comprises an embossing device for providing a plurality of embossed protrusions to the material, an undulating device comprising undulated forming spaces which creates undulations in the initially flat material prior to the undulated material being provided to the embossing device, and a conveying means for conveying the initially flat material along a transport path in a continuous process through the undulated forming spaces. It is that suggested that the undulating device, seen in the direction of the transport path, comprises at least two stages each comprising an undulated forming space, the undulated forming space of a downstream stage differing in number and/or height of undulations from the undulated forming space of an upstream stage.
AUTOMATED AIR-PILLOW DISPENSER
A transfer and dispensing apparatus is disclosed for the conveying and separation of packaging material, cushions or pillows when needed by the operator. When a packer working over a conveyor receives a box that requires void fill, an operating switch such as a foot pedal is depressed to dispense pillows from the apparatus and into the box in a connected strip. When the operating switch is released, the apparatus stops dispensing pillows, separates the continuous strip of pillows along a transverse perforation in the strip, and ejects the end of the separated segment. The packer can then complete packing the box by placing the severed end of the pillows into the box, advance to the next box, and repeat the process. The transfer and dispensing apparatus may be positioned in any convenient location including adjacent to, above or attached to the inflation device.
COMPACT DUNNAGE CONVERSION MACHINE
A dunnage conversion machine is provided for converting a sheet stock material into a relatively lower density dunnage product as it moves downstream through the conversion machine. The conversion machine includes a forming assembly configured to inwardly gather sheet stock material, and a feeding assembly downstream of the forming assembly. The forming assembly includes a converging chute with an inlet and a relatively smaller outlet downstream of the inlet, the converging chute being aligned along a converging axis. The feeding assembly has a pair of rotatable members rotatable about respective parallel axes of rotation. The rotatable members are arranged to feed sheet stock material from the forming assembly downstream of the feeding assembly, the rotating members defining a feed axis perpendicular to a line connecting and perpendicular to the axes of rotation. The conversion machine is characterized by the converging axis being transverse rather than aligned with the feed axis.
Dunnage conversion machine and method
A method of making a dunnage product includes the following steps: (a) converting a sheet stock material into a lower density strip of dunnage having a width and a height that is less than the width; and (b) cutting the strip of dunnage to form a discrete dunnage product of a desired length by cutting across less than the width of the strip of dunnage to maintain a connection between the strip of dunnage and the discrete dunnage product. The connection between respective dunnage products in a string of connected dunnage products keeps the dunnage products together, in the order in which they were produced, and helps to ensure that the dunnage products do not shingle and can assist in feeding the dunnage products to a packing station.
Guide member with expansion element for inflation and sealing assembly
The present disclosure is directed to a web inflation and sealing apparatus. The device may include a support member for holding a supply of web material and sealing apparatus may include an inflation and a sealing assembly operable to inflate the web material with a fluid by directing the fluid between superimposed plies of the web material and to seal the plies together to seal the fluid therein. The apparatus may include a guide member positioned between the support member and the inflation and sealing assembly such that when the web material is routed from the supply toward the inflation and sealing assembly via the guide member the web material follows a curved longitudinal path. The guide member may define a web-supporting surface extending transversely to the longitudinal path with an elevated profile portion defining at least a portion of the web-supporting surface.
SHEET STOCK MATERIAL CONFIGURATION AND APPARATUS, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR FEEDING SHEET STOCK MATERIAL TO A DUNNAGE SYSTEM
Methods and structures are provided for a dunnage system to facilitate efficient coupling together of supply units of pre-configured sheet stock material, such as, for example, separate units of fanfold stacks of pre-configured sheet stock material, in a manner of continuous supply with a continuous pocket extending longitudinally between the separate supply units, so that they can interact with an expander of the dunnage system without disruption as one supply unit is depleted and a next supply unit is fed through the dunnage system. Also, various methods, apparatus, and systems are provided to facilitate smooth operation of a dunnage machine of the dunnage system to reduce a tendency of the pre-configured sheet stock material to jam and to increase the tendency of dunnage product generated to reflect a desired shape and stability.
DUNNAGE CONVERSION MACHINE AND METHOD
A conversion assembly for a dunnage conversion machine includes both a downstream pair of rotatable members and an upstream pair of rotatable members upstream of the downstream rotatable members. The downstream rotatable members include a pair of gears, and each gear has a plurality of teeth and is rotatable about a respective axis. The gears are positioned so that the teeth of one gear are sequentially interlaced with the teeth of the other gear as the gears rotate. The upstream rotatable members include a pair of feed wheels, and the gears and the feed wheels define a path for a sheet stock material from between the upstream pair of feed wheels to between the downstream pair of gears. The rate at which the sheet stock material is advanced by the feed wheels is the same as the rate at which the sheet stock material is advanced by the gears.
