Multimodal copolymer of ethylene and at least two alpha-olefin comonomers and final articles made thereof
The present invention is directed to a multimodal polyethylene copolymer comprising a first and a second copolymer of ethylene and at least two alpha-olefin comonomers. Such multimodal copolymers are highly suitable for conversion processes that require a high Draw Down Ratio, like the production of thin films. Such multimodal polyethylene copolymers provide a good impact strength in the sense of a high Dart drop impact strength (DDI) and good isotropy of the films produces thereof. The invention further presents final articles such as films made therefrom.

Provided herein are monolayer films, and also multilayer films comprising a core, a subskin disposed on the core, and a skin disposed on the subskin. The films may have an Elmendorf tear in MD greater than about 7.0 g/μm, a dart impact greater than about 6.0 g/μm, and a 1% secant modulus greater than about 200 MPa. In multilayer films, the core comprises a first polyethylene blend comprising an ethylene 1-hexene copolymer and a high density polyethylene composition in an amount between about 0 wt. % and about 40 wt. %. Further provided herein are bags and laminates comprising the present films.
Heat Sealing Member
Various enhancements of heat seals are provided herein with sealant layers that provide for decreased chance of oversealing the heat seal to a container. Such enhancements include the use of various types of resins in combination to provide for desirable heating and sealing characteristics. Further, the heat seals may be especially suitable for use with polyester containers, such as those containing polyethylene terephthalate.
Roofing Shingles, Tiles and Shakes
The present disclosure relates generally to roofing elements and methods for making them. In one embodiment, the disclosure provides a roofing element in the form of a roofing shingle that includes a body of a foamed cured cross-linked polymer, the body having a top surface and a bottom surface, the body extending substantially in a plane and having a thickness in the range of 0.5 mm to 35 mm; and a layer of weather-resistant roofing granules disposed on and adhered at the top surface of roofing element. The roofing element can be made by providing a body of wet foamed curable composition, and allowing the curable composition to cure to provide the body of foamed cured cross-linked polymer.
AUTOMOTIVE CRASH PAD AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF
An automotive crash pad and a method for manufacturing the same. The automotive crash pad includes: a skin layer forming the outer surface of the crash pad including an airbag module; a fiber-based layer formed on the lower surface of the skin layer; a cushion layer formed on the lower surface of the fiber-based layer and including slab foam; and a core layer formed on the lower surface of the cushion layer, wherein a laminate of the skin layer and the fiber-based layer has a tensile strength in a transverse direction (TD) of 5 to 50 kgf/3 cm and an elongation at break in the transverse direction (TD) of 40 to 220%.
Curative
An illustrative embodiment of a manufactured surface component may be comprised of a textile material on a first face and an elastomer material on a second face, wherein said elastomer material is bonded to said textile material, wherein said manufactured surface component is substantially planarly configured, wherein an area of said first face and said second face is from about 0.04 square inches to about 4.0 square inches, wherein a thickness of said manufactured surface component is from about 0.3 mm to about 2.5 mm, and wherein said manufactured surface component is substantially free of any petrochemical-derived plastics, petrochemicals, and toxins.
MULTILAYER FILM AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
A multilayer film comprises first, second, and third layers. The first layer comprises at least one aromatic polyester, and has a loss modulus at 1 hertz and 25° C. of at least 70 megapascals. The second layer is thermoplastic and has a loss modulus at 1 hertz and 25° C. of less than or equal to 60 megapascals and comprises a thermoplastic elastomer and a polyamide. The third layer contacts the second layer opposite the first layer and has a loss modulus at 1 hertz and 25° C. of at least 70 megapascals. The second layer is sandwiched between the first and third layers. A method of making the multilayer film by coextrusion is also disclosed.
