POLYMERIC INTERLAYERS AND MULTIPLE LAYER PANELS MADE THEREFROM EXHIBITING ENHANCED PROPERTIES AND PERFORMANCE

Polymeric interlayers for use in making multiple layer panels having a unique balance of properties are provided. Single and multiple layer interlayers according to various embodiments of the present invention can be used to form multiple layer panels that exhibit both enhanced rigidity and improved impact resistance, while still retaining desirable optical performance. Interlayers and multiple layer panels of the present invention may be particularly suitable for use in a wide range of applications, including, for example, in many indoor and outdoor architectural and structural applications.

GLASS-POLYMER LAMINATES AND PROCESSES FOR FORMING THE SAME

A glass-polymer laminate includes a glass layer with a thickness of at most about 300 μm and a polymer layer laminated to the glass layer. At all temperatures within a temperature range of about 16 C to about 32 C, the glass layer has a compressive stress and the glass-polymer laminate has a bow flattening force of at most about 150 N. A method includes laminating a glass layer to a polymer layer with an adhesive at a lamination temperature to form a glass-polymer laminate. The glass layer has a thickness of at most about 300 μm. The lamination temperature is sufficiently high that, at all temperatures within a temperature range of about 16 C to about 32 C, the glass layer has a compressive stress. The lamination temperature is sufficiently low that, at all temperatures within the temperature range, the glass-polymer laminate has a bow flattening force of at most about 150 N.

MULTILAYER LAMINATE STRUCTURE AND METHOD OF FORMING THE SAME

The present disclosure relates to a multilayer laminate structure may include a glass substrate having a thickness of not greater than about 300 microns, a fluoropolymer based layer, and an adhesive layer in contact with the fluoropolymer based layer and between the glass substrate and the fluoropolymer based layer. The fluoropolymer based layer may include a fluoropolymer based material and a first fluoropolymer based layer ultraviolet (UV) component. The multilayer laminate structure may have a lower ultraviolet light transmission (L-UVLT) of not greater than 1.0%, a high ultraviolet light transmission (H-UVLT) of not greater than 5.0%, and a visual light transmission (VLT) of at least about 50.0%.
