Concave assembly with cover mechanism

A concave assembly for an agricultural combine harvester comprises a concave, a cover, and a cover actuator. The concave comprises a grate. The cover has an opened position uncovering at least a portion of the grate to allow crop flow through the at least the portion of the grate and a closed position covering the at least the portion of the grate to block crop flow through the at least the portion of the grate. The cover actuator comprises a four-bar linkage and moves the cover between the opened position and the closed position.

Each latch assembly further includes a thrust washer received about the carriage bolt, a nut threadedly received on the threaded shaft, and a cam lever pivotally attached to the nut. The cam lever pivots about a pivot axis perpendicular to a length of the threaded shaft, the cam lever including a cam surface configured to engage the thrust washer, the cam lever being pivotable from an unlatched position to a latched position such that engagement of the cam surface with the thrust washer during pivotal motion of the cam lever biases the thrust washer toward the enlarged head to thereby latch a mounting flange of a concave grate to a support flange of a support frame.

The second grate has an engaged position beneath the third drum, and it can be driven from the engaged position, around the third drum, to a disengaged position over the third drum. During this disengagement, a space adjustment system moves the fourth drum to increase a space between the third and fourth drums to enable the second grate to pass through the space.
