A screen-printing unit in a printing machine comprises a screen cylinder which carries a screen-printing stencil and in which a squeegee is moved, from the inside, into contact with, and away from the screen-printing stencil. The screen cylinder is moved into contact with an impression cylinder, such that a printing position is formed, and is moved away therefrom, such that a gap is formed. The screen cylinder is moved away from the impression cylinder, in a first phase, when the squeegee is in a non-contacting position. In a second phase, at least one sheet of printing material is passed through the printing position when the squeegee continues to be in a non-contacting position and the screen cylinder is at least temporarily in a contacting position. For subsequent sheets of printing material, in a third phase, the screen-printing unit is operated with the squeegee one of permanently and cyclically, such as at least once for each sheet of printing material, in a contacting position.

Anti-Bounce Print Deck for Flexographic Printing Press

A device and a method is disclosed to maintain plate and anilox mandrel position stability in print decks of a flexographic printing press. In one aspect, the mandrel bearings associated with at least one of the plate roll and the anilox roll are preloaded for the purpose of eliminating backlash and increasing the positional stiffness of the bearings, and thus the mandrel. In another aspect, the roll drive motor control system is enabled to provide a torque additive command the torque profile to maintain rotational consistency and otherwise overcome torque transients experienced by the motor during print bounce. Accordingly, the problem commonly referred to as print bounce and or print banding is alleviated.

Mandrel for printing apparatus, printing cylinder and printing apparatus

A mandrel for use in a printing apparatus includes a substantially cylindrical mandrel shaft and plastic expansion rings that are slidably and coaxially mounted on the mandrel shaft. The mandrel also includes a locking assembly including a fixed stop ring and a single locking ring that is axially movably mounted on the mandrel shaft. The expansion rings are positioned between the stop ring and the locking ring. In the unlocked position of the locking ring the expansion rings are in a released state in which the axial compression and the radial expansion of the expansion rings are smaller than in a locked position of the locking ring. A printing cylinder sleeve can be fixedly connected to the mandrel by bringing the expansion rings in the radially expanded state. When the printing cylinder sleeve has to be exchanged, this is feasible when the expansion rings are in the released state.

Rotary printing module and printing machine provided with such printing module

A printing module of the flexo printing type, is provided with an anilox roller and an impression roller which are set up between two frame parts. Further, the printing module comprises a plate cylinder assembly which is receivable in a plate cylinder holder assembly. The plate cylinder holder assembly is provided with a plate-shaped body part with a supporting ring support surface with a special curve which is symmetrical with respect to a curve plane. Further, each plate cylinder holder assembly comprises a body part support assembly via which the body part is connected with the associated frame part, wherein the body part support assembly is configured for pivoting the body part about a first imaginary pivoting axis and for pivoting the body part about a second imaginary pivoting axis, such as to allow a substantially independent distance setting between the plate cylinder and the anilox roller on one side and between the plate cylinder and the impression roller on the other side.
