METHOD AND DEVICE FOR OPERATING A ROTARY SCREEN-PRINTING MACHINE
A screen-printing unit in a printing machine comprises a screen cylinder which carries a screen-printing stencil and in which a squeegee is moved, from the inside, into contact with, and away from the screen-printing stencil. The screen cylinder is moved into contact with an impression cylinder, such that a printing position is formed, and is moved away therefrom, such that a gap is formed. The screen cylinder is moved away from the impression cylinder, in a first phase, when the squeegee is in a non-contacting position. In a second phase, at least one sheet of printing material is passed through the printing position when the squeegee continues to be in a non-contacting position and the screen cylinder is at least temporarily in a contacting position. For subsequent sheets of printing material, in a third phase, the screen-printing unit is operated with the squeegee one of permanently and cyclically, such as at least once for each sheet of printing material, in a contacting position.
Anti-Bounce Print Deck for Flexographic Printing Press
A device and a method is disclosed to maintain plate and anilox mandrel position stability in print decks of a flexographic printing press. In one aspect, the mandrel bearings associated with at least one of the plate roll and the anilox roll are preloaded for the purpose of eliminating backlash and increasing the positional stiffness of the bearings, and thus the mandrel. In another aspect, the roll drive motor control system is enabled to provide a torque additive command the torque profile to maintain rotational consistency and otherwise overcome torque transients experienced by the motor during print bounce. Accordingly, the problem commonly referred to as print bounce and or print banding is alleviated.
Processing unit and label printing machine having the processing unit
A processing unit for rotational processing includes at least two processing cylinders and a machine frame. A first processing cylinder is movably mounted in the machine frame, a second processing cylinder is stationarily mounted in the machine frame and a pair of support members is provided for each respective processing cylinder. A respective support member of the second processing cylinder has a solid joint, a manipulator and an annular segment attached to the solid joint and contacting one support member of the first processing cylinder. A solid joint is linearly displaceable by the manipulator and an annular segment is linearly displaceable therewith. A gap dimension between the processing cylinders can therefore be adjusted in a simple, accurate manner with precise repeatability. A label printing machine having the processing unit is also provided.

Processing unit and label printing machine having the processing unit
A processing unit, for example a printing unit, for the rotational processing of a web-shaped or sheet-shaped substrate, includes a machine frame, at least a first processing cylinder movably mounted in the machine frame, a second processing cylinder stationarily mounted in the machine frame, and a pair of support members associated with each respective processing cylinder. Each support member of the second processing cylinder has an annular segment, a linear guide, a guide body fixed to the machine frame and a manipulator. Each annular segment contacts a respective support member of the first processing cylinder, and each annular segment is linearly displaceable along the linear guide by a respective manipulator. The processing unit permits a gap dimension between the processing cylinders of the processing unit to be adjustable in a simple, exact manner with precise repeatability. A label printing machine having the processing unit is also provided.

DIE-CUTTING UNIT COMPRISING A DEVICE FOR CHANGING A DIE-CUTTING CYLINDER AND METHOD FOR CHANGING A DIE-CUTTING CYLINDER
Examples include a die-cutting unit that includes a device for changing a die-cutting cylinder. The die-cutting unit includes at least one die-cutting cylinder and at least one anvil cylinder. The die-cutting cylinder is arranged in a die-cutting position for die-cutting, and is exchangeable for at least one further die-cutting cylinder by means of the device for changing the die-cutting cylinder. One of the die-cutting cylinders is arrangeable in a waiting position for guiding the two die-cutting cylinders past one another. The waiting position is a position that is outside a direct guide path between the die-cutting position and a maintenance position for the set-up and/or maintenance of one of the die-cutting cylinders. Further, the waiting position is arranged lower, in the vertical direction, by no more than 100 percent of a diameter of the die-cutting cylinder in the die-cutting position or, alternatively, is located above the die-cutting position.
