Dynamic guide for a paper folding machine
A folding device is provided for folding a sheet comprises a jaw cylinder, a folding cylinder, a paper guide, and an actuator. The jaw cylinder has a jaw, and the folding cylinder has a hold down element and a folding blade. The folding blade is movable between an extended position and a retracted position. The folding blade is in the extended positron to transfer one or more sheets to the jaw cylinder during a fold off operation, and the folding blade is in the retracted position during a collect operation. The paper guide is positioned between the folding cylinder and the jaw cylinder. The paper guide includes a static guide element and a reciprocating guide element connected to the static guide element, the reciprocating guide element movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The actuator is connected to the reciprocating guide element; the actuator configured and arranged to place the reciprocating guide element into the extended position during the collect operation and into the retracted position during the fold-off operation.

Printing and perforating machine
Printing and perforating machine comprising a perforating mechanism (1) and a printing mechanism (30), the perforating mechanism (1) comprising a perforating element (2, 7) provided with piercing elements (5); and a support element (4, 8) that defines with the perforating element (2, 7) a space for the passage of a sheet material (3), forming holes on the sheet material (3) when it passes through this space. With this machine, the perforation of the sheet material is carried out during the printing process thereof, preferably a digital printing, in a synchronized way, eliminating time and handling for loading and unloading the roll of sheet material in a conventional sheet material perforating machine.
Devices for post-processing web- or sheet-type stock, production line, and method for producing a printed product
A device for further processing web- or sheet-type stock comprises a further-processing section, in which stock that is supplied on the input side can be processed into printed products. The further-processing section comprises, in the guide path of a processing line through which the stock has run, at least one first combining device relative to the stock path, which can combine one- or multi-layer stock sections to a bundle; a second combining device which can combine the bundles formed by the first combining device to a bundle stack downstream of the first combining device; and a transverse folding device which is arranged functionally downstream of the second combining device and which transversely forms the bundles or bundle stacks relative to the conveying device on the input side when they exit the second combining device. A device for joining several layers is placed in the guide path, such that it can join several or all of the stock sections combined in the first combining device into a bundle, before they are received by the second combining device and is associated with, are arranged downstream of the first combining device. During production of the products, a combined bundle is stapled before it is combined with one or more other bundles and is then transversely folded. In addition, a longitudinal cutting device is provided in the guide path downstream of the transverse folding device.
Booklet making method and apparatus
A booklet making method includes: cutting a web of paper on one side and on another side into first and second continuous sheets, alternately bonding the first and second continuous sheets widthwise with a setting paste and a throwaway paste to form a double set continuous sheet of paper, and cutting the double set continuous sheet of paper into split double sheets of a selected longitudinal length. A plurality of split double sheets is integrally bound with an integrating paste to form a booklet-like product. Portions of the booklet-like product which are pasted and bonded with the throwaway paste are cut off to provide a plurality of booklets. Thus, by the booklet making method, booklets having an odd number of leaves or pages are formed without waste of paper and with reduced paper jams.

Image layout
According to an example, a printing system may include a web layout module to access a set of images and generate a web layout of the set of images, in which the web layout is arranged in columns of same sized images, each column being arranged in sorted order of image size. The module may further add at least one of advertising material, a coupon, and customer information on a space of a column on which images do not extend a width of the web layout. The printing system may also include a print engine to print the set of images and the at least one of the advertising material, coupon, and customer information on a web of substrate in the generated print layout.

Printing press, folder, and methods of operation
Systems and methods for allowing existing rotary printing press units to produce smaller pages at a faster rate of speed without having to replace the press unit. Specifically, the systems and methods relate to retrofitting an existing press unit to produce three pages of material in each full rotation instead of the traditional two pages.
