Fabrication Of Thin-Film Encapsulation Layer For Light Emitting Device
20190371684 · 2019-12-05 · ·

An ink jet process is used to deposit a material layer to a desired thickness. Layout data is converted to per-cell grayscale values, each representing ink volume to be locally delivered. The grayscale values are used to generate a halftone pattern to deliver variable ink volume (and thickness) to the substrate. The halftoning provides for a relatively continuous layer (e.g., without unintended gaps or holes) while providing for variable volume and, thus, contributes to variable ink/material buildup to achieve desired thickness. The ink is jetted as liquid or aerosol that suspends material used to form the material layer, for example, an organic material used to form an encapsulation layer for a flat panel device. The deposited layer is then cured or otherwise finished to complete the process.

An image processing apparatus that generates data for setting different colors for a projected portion and a recessed portion of an unevenness on a surface of a recording medium by recording a colored printing material on at least the projected portion of the unevenness includes a first acquisition unit configured to acquire recording amount data representing a recording amount of the colored printing material, and a halftoning unit configured to perform first halftoning on the recording amount data to arrange a larger number of dots of the colored printing material to be recorded on the projected portion of the unevenness at a center of the projected portion than at edges of the projected portion.

PRINTING APPARATUS AND IMAGE CORRECTION METHOD
20190329567 · 2019-10-31 · ·

A printing apparatus includes a printer with printing elements that print dots and a controller that acquires input image data. The controller acquires a pre-correction printing density that is based on test pattern data, which includes a uniform array of pixels, and printing characteristics of printing positions of the dots printed by the plurality of printing elements. The controller calculates a target density by averaging the pre-correction printing density and offsets the target density so that the target density is equal to or greater than the pre-correction printing density. The controller calculates a correction gain of the plurality of printing elements on the basis of the ratio of the target density to the pre-correction printing density and controls the printer on the basis of the correction gain and the input image data.

A recording apparatus includes a head and a controller. The controller discriminates first and second regions on a recording medium based on received image data, sets a boundary region that includes a boundary of the first and second regions, sets a first discharge speed for a discharge speed of droplets from the head to be landed to a first main region included in the first region, sets a second discharge speed slower than the first discharge speed for a discharge speed of droplets from the head to be landed to a second main region included in the second region, and sets a discharge speed between the first discharge speed and the second discharge speed for a discharge speed of droplets form the head to be landed to the boundary region.

Multilayer white printing with white-balance

White-balance is improved when printing on colored media, while minimizing the time and use of costly materials required by present approaches. In an embodiment, the typical solid white fill or background layer is altered by including in the white layer one or more of the other colors already available in the printer to shade this layer. Thus, a small amount of cyan, for example, helps balance a pink-ish (red) media; yellow is used for blue media; and magenta is used for green media; as well as combinations thereof. A combination of transparent process inks and opaque white helps to maintain brightness (luminosity).
