ADJUSTING COLORANT VALUES IN IMAGES TO BE PRINTED

A colorant value adjustment method is disclosed. The method comprises obtaining data defining colorant values for a plurality of print addressable locations representative of pixels of an image to be printed during a printing operation, wherein each colorant value is representative of an amount of colorant to be delivered from a print nozzle to a corresponding print addressable location as the print nozzle moves between the print addressable locations during the printing operation. The method comprises determining, based on the obtained data, a measure of time that the print nozzle is not to deposit colorant immediately prior reaching a first print addressable location. The method comprises determining, based on the determined measure of time, an adjustment to be applied to the colorant value at the first print addressable location. The method comprises applying the adjustment to the colorant value for the first print addressable location. An apparatus and a machine-readable medium are also disclosed.

Image processing device generating dot data using machine learning model and method for training machine learning model

In an image processing device, a controller performs: acquiring target image data representing a target image; inputting first and second datasets into a machine learning model and causing the machine learning model to output first and second partial dot data; and generating dot data specifying a dot formation state for each of a plurality of pixels in a print image corresponding to the target image using the first and second partial dot data. The first dataset includes first partial image data and a first value for an input parameter. The second dataset includes second partial image data and a second value for the input parameter. The machine learning model outputs the second partial dot data different from the first partial dot data according to the second value being different from the first value even when the second partial image data is identical to the first partial image data.

NOZZLE-DROPLET COMBINATION TECHNIQUES TO DEPOSIT FLUIDS IN SUBSTRATE LOCATIONS WITHIN PRECISE TOLERANCES

An ink printing process employs per-nozzle droplet volume measurement and processing software that plans droplet combinations to reach specific aggregate ink fills per target region, guaranteeing compliance with minimum and maximum ink fills set by specification. In various embodiments, different droplet combinations are produced through different print head/substrate scan offsets, offsets between print heads, the use of different nozzle drive waveforms, and/or other techniques. Optionally, patterns of fill variation can be introduced so as to mitigate observable line effects in a finished display device. The disclosed techniques have many other possible applications.

A control device is configured to: control a main scanning device and a sub-scanning device to print partial images by single partial printing in a first case where a specific condition is not satisfied, the specific condition indicating that ink supply to a printing head may be delayed in a partial printing and determined for each of the partial image, control the main scanning device and the sub-scanning device to print the partial images by a plurality of partial printings including a first partial printing and a second partial printing in a second case where the specific condition is satisfied, and determine a first area of the partial image to be printed by the first partial printing and a second area of the partial image to be printed by the second partial printing by using a pixel value information, in the second case.

Printing device and printing method

A printing device prints an object on a medium by inkjet printing. The printing device includes: a glossy ink head that discharges ink droplets of a glossy ink having a glossy color; and a main scan driver that prompts the glossy ink head to perform main scans in which the glossy ink head discharges the ink droplets while moving in a predetermined main scanning direction. The glossy ink contains a glossy pigment. In the main scans, the glossy ink head discharges the ink droplets plural times while moving in the main scanning direction to form ink dots at positions on the medium aligned in the main scanning direction. The ink droplets discharged from the glossy ink head each have a volume constituting a size that allows for contact on the medium between any ones of dots formed in each one of the main scans.
