A conveying device includes a blower and a conveyor. The blower blows air to a sheet material. The conveyor conveys the sheet material through a blowing region of the blower. The conveyor includes a surface movable member and a presser. The surface movable member conveys the sheet material with movement of a surface of the surface movable member, with a back side of the sheet material supported with the surface movable member. The presser presses at least a portion of a leading end of the sheet material toward the surface movable member in at least an area from a position upstream from the blowing region in a conveyance direction of the sheet material to a position in the blowing region of the blower.

Liquid discharge apparatus and method of pressing medium
A liquid discharge apparatus (printing device) includes a support section that supports a medium, a discharge section that discharges a liquid onto the medium that is supported by the support section, a holding section (carriage) that holds the discharge section, and a pressing section (rollers) that can change the position to a first position for pressing the medium against the support section or to a second position for releasing the medium. The pressing section is placed within an area between the holding section and the support section at the first position, and is placed outside the area between the holding section and the support section at the second position.
Transport with media hold down for inkjet printers
A transport with media hold down is used with an inkjet printer. A plurality of spar links and vacuum links are connected pivotally together to form an endless belt orbiting around drive wheels and driven wheels. Vacuum links have hollow chambers to hold the media sheet against the endless belt using vacuum. At least one spar is received in a slot on a spar link. The spar extends above the link to receive the media sheet. The spar moves into a clamping position by a cam and follower to clamp the media sheet against the spar link. The media sheet will thus pass beneath the inkjet print head without contact. The spar moves into an extended position by the cam and follower to release the media sheet. The spar moves into a retracted position below the spar link surface by the cam and follower to allow the media sheet to exit the transport.
Transport with media hold down for inkjet printers
A transport with media hold down is used with an inkjet printer. A plurality of spar links and vacuum links are connected pivotally together to form an endless belt orbiting around drive wheels and driven wheels. Vacuum links have hollow chambers to hold the media sheet against the endless belt using vacuum. At least one spar is received in a slot on a spar link. The spar extends above the link to receive the media sheet. The spar moves into a clamping position by a cam and follower to clamp the media sheet against the spar link. The media sheet will thus pass beneath the inkjet print head without contact. The spar moves into an extended position by the cam and follower to release the media sheet. The spar moves into a retracted position below the spar link surface by the cam and follower to allow the media sheet to exit the transport.
Liquid Discharge Apparatus and Method of Pressing Medium
A liquid discharge apparatus (printing device) includes a support section that supports a medium, a discharge section that discharges a liquid onto the medium that is supported by the support section, a holding section (carriage) that holds the discharge section, and a pressing section (rollers) that can change the position to a first position for pressing the medium against the support section or to a second position for releasing the medium. A printer includes a transport path along which a medium is transported, a transport unit that transports the medium in a transport direction along the transport path, an ejection head that ejects liquid onto the medium transported along the transport path, a manual insertion feed unit that feeds the manually inserted medium to the transport path, a discharge tray that is disposed downstream of the transport path in the transport direction and on which the medium discharged from the transport path is placed, and a restricting unit that restricts, at a position upstream, in the transport direction, of a position facing the ejection head on the transport path, a downstream movement of the medium manually inserted into the manual insertion feed unit.
