The electrical processing circuit is operable for receiving the output signal(s) and controlling operation of the power device, dependent upon the output signal(s).

Square balers

A square baler having a baling chamber, a plunger reciprocable at one end of the baling chamber, a pre-compression chamber where charges of crop are amassed and pre-compressed by a rotor prior to transfer into the baling chamber. A transducer is provided for producing an electrical output signal indicative of the load on the rotor and a processing circuit is operative to estimate the rate of crop flow into the pre-compression chamber by analyzing the output signal of the transducer over a complete filling and emptying cycle of the pre-compression chamber.

An agricultural system includes a baler with a plunger and a sensor for sensing a plunger-related value; a vehicle including a power source operable to convey power to the plunger; and a CVT arranged to drive the plunger. In order to balance a fluctuating load of the plunger over the working cycle, an electronic control unit (ECU) is coupled to the sensor and to the CVT and is configured to receive the signal from the sensor and to cause the CVT to modify a gear ratio of the CVT based on the signal from the sensor and on a mathematical model defining a CVT gear ratio variation profile derived from an expected load applied by crop on the plunger over its operating cycle.

The baler is characterized by an auxiliary power system coupled with the driveline. The auxiliary power system is configured for receiving power from the driveline, storing the power, and utilizing the stored power to power at least one functional component onboard the baler.

Auxiliary power system for an agricultural baler with flywheel start up

An agricultural baler is characterized by an APS coupled with a driveline and configured for receiving power from the driveline, storing the power, and transmitting the stored power back to the driveline. An electrical processing circuit which is coupled with the APS is operable to control operation of the APS to rotate the flywheel upon start up of the baler.

BALER WITH AUTOMATED POSITIONING OF PLUNGER

A baling system acts at shut-down to automatically pre-position a plunger so that it is just past a rear-dead-center position when the baler is restarted, thereby minimizing the load on a power take-off during the next restart. In particular, when the power take-off is deactivated, a control unit automatically brakes the power take-off so that the plunger stops in the desired position. Alternatively, the baling system acts at restart-up to automatically repeatedly activate and deactivate the power take-off in order to accelerate the plunger to a predetermined minimum operating speed before activating the power take-off for continuous operation, thereby maximizing a flywheel's momentum during the restart.
