AUTOMATED TRACTOR SPEED ADJUSTMENT FOR AVOIDANCE OF PLUGGING A BALER

A system for adjusting a tractor speed based on a performance of a pickup of a baler comprises a flow rate sensor, a processing element, and a tractor speed controller. The flow rate sensor senses a flow rate of a crop into the pickup and outputs a flow rate signal with a level that varies according to the flow rate of the crop into the pickup. The processing element receives the flow rate signal, receives a speed signal regarding a speed of a tractor pulling the baler, compares the flow rate from the flow rate signal with the speed from the speed signal to generate a comparison result, and outputs an electronic speed signal with a level that varies according to the comparison result. The tractor speed controller is configured to receive the speed signal and adjust a speed of the tractor according to the level of the speed signal.

High capacity baler with multiple knotters

A high capacity square baler comprising a pickup mechanism configured to pick up a single windrow of crop material off the ground. The baler additionally comprising one or more stuffer chutes each configured to receive at least a portion of the crop material picked up by the pickup mechanism. The baler additionally comprising one or more stuffer assemblies each configured to push crop material generally upward through one or more of the stuffer chutes. The baler additionally comprising a plurality of bale-forming chambers each configured to receive crop material from one or more of the stuffer chutes. The baler further comprising a plurality of knotter assemblies each associated with one of the bales forming chambers and each configured to wrap and tie securement lines around each formed bale. The knotter assemblies are configured to operate independently of one another, such that formed bales can be tied at different times.

Overrunning clutch for a drive mechanism of an agricultural baler

An agricultural baler including a bale case, a plunger, a duct, and a stuffer unit, operably associated with the duct. The stuffer unit includes a fork assembly including tines, a drive mechanism acting on the fork assembly, and a clutch arrangement for selective coupling the drive mechanism to a power source of the baler. The clutch arrangement includes a selectively operable dog clutch including a driving clutch member and a driven clutch member. The driving and the driven clutch member are configured for selectively engaging each other in one direction of rotation of the driving clutch member relative to the driven clutch member. The clutch arrangement furthermore includes an overrunning clutch associated with the driving clutch member and the driven clutch member.

BALING MACHINE INCLUDING A DRIVE-TRANSFERRING DRIVELINE

A baling machine includes a rotary drive-transferring driveline including a rotary input shaft that is connected to provide rotary drive as an input to a transmission; a flywheel shaft supporting a flywheel that is rotatably driven as an output of the transmission, the flywheel shaft connecting directly or indirectly to a plunger of the baling machine; and the transmission that is drive-transferringly interposed between the input shaft and the flywheel shaft. The transmission includes one or more clutches for selectively drivingly connecting the input shaft and the flywheel shaft one to the other inside the transmission and the flywheel shaft is free of clutches.

A baling system operable to receive loose material, form the loose material into an individual charge, and compress the individual charge with one or more other charges to form a bale. The baling system includes a forming chamber and a plunger operable to move in a reciprocating manner within the forming chamber from a front-dead-center position in which a plunger face is furthest re) from the bale to a rear-dead-center position in which the plunger face contacts and compresses the bale. The system includes a feeder component operable to pre-compress the loose material to form the individual charge and then move the individual charge into the forming chamber, the feeder component including a feeder chute having a feeder chute outlet connected to the forming chamber. The feeder component is operable to pre-compress the loose material into the individual charge and then move the individual charge into the forming chamber for compression by the plunger into the bale. The system includes a moisture sensor operable to determine a moisture content of the individual charge in the feeder chute, wherein at least a portion of the moisture sensor is positioned in the plunger face. In one embodiment, the moisture sensor is a near infra-red sensor operable to use near infra-red radiation to determine the moisture content.
