An agricultural baler includes a main bale chamber, needles, knotters, a triggering system, a knotter lock, a blow-off mechanism, and a monitoring system. The needles are coupled to the main bale chamber and thread twine around a formed bale. The knotters receive the twine from the needles and tie the twine. The triggering system is for activating the needles and the knotters. The knotter lock is a manual lock of the triggering system thereby preventing the needles and the knotters from being triggered. The blow-off mechanism directs a flow of air at the knotters and the needles. The monitoring system has a single sensor that provides signals indicating a normal operation of the knotters, and whether the knotter lock is engaged.

The controller is configured to: determine an area based at least partially on a rake width of a rake and a defined length; determine a parameter distribution in a region of a field having the area based at least partially on the measured parameter and the location of the agricultural baler; and output a field map update signal to update a field map to indicate the determined parameter distribution.

A baler system includes a baler controller includes a processor operable to execute a bale ejection algorithm to receive a command input to initiate a last bale ejection sequence. Upon receiving the command input, the baler controller automatically engages a knotter system to wrap and bind crop material currently disposed within a baling chamber to form a final bale. Upon forming the final bale, the baler controller automatically determines if a discharge location disposed proximate a discharge end of the baling chamber is clear of obstructions. Upon determining that the discharge end of the baling chamber is clear of obstructions, the baler controller automatically engages a bale ejection system to eject the final bale from the baling chamber and onto the discharge location.

The spaced relation can be longitudinal by ejecting the divided bales at staggered time and/or can be laterally spaced by turning the bales in the ejection chute structure.

A bale ejection system includes an outer carrier plate an inner carrier plate, and a linear actuator attached to the inner carrier plate. A bale spear is coupled to the outer carrier plate via a linkage bar. A return stroke latch system secures the outer carrier plate relative to the frame during an initial portion of a return stroke while allowing the inner carrier plate to move along a longitudinal axis in a second longitudinal direction during the initial portion of the return stroke, whereby the linkage bar moves the bale spear along a spear axis from an extended position into a retracted position for disengaging from the bale.

The combination includes a control unit and a sensor for capturing an acoustic signal. The control unit is configured to characterize the picking-up of the crop and the compressing of the bale on the basis of a sensor signal from the sensor indicative of the acoustic signal of the baler. The control unit may then control the tow vehicle and/or the baler based on the characterization of the sensor signal.
