In an example, a print target may be printed with a calibration target. The calibration target may comprise a first printing fluid figure printed on the print target and a second printing fluid figure printed on the print target. A geometric figure may be defined by the second printing fluid figure. The geometric figure may be negatively outlined in the second printing fluid figure. In an example, the calibration target may be processed to define a geometric relationship between a first printing fluid reference point and a second printing fluid reference point.

Recording apparatus, control method, and storage medium

There is a case where a reading unit cannot read an entire area of a recording medium in a scanning direction of a carriage, or a case where reading accuracy is low in the entire area. In such a case, a result of reading a test pattern for adjusting an ejection timing at each position cannot be obtained with high accuracy in a single reading operation. In order to solve the issue, a recording apparatus performs a reading operation a plurality of times and generates, based on results from the respective operations, an adjustment value for adjusting the ejection timing at each position in the scanning direction.

A recording condition determining method executed by a recording device performing recording by a main scanning, in which while moving a recording head in a main scanning direction, dots are ejected from nozzles onto a recording medium, and a sub scanning, in which the recording medium is transported in a sub scanning direction. The method includes a patch recording step, the patch recording step being performed by recording patches at a plurality of different positions in the sub scanning direction by a plurality of types of overlap-processing under respectively different recording conditions, in a single recording job performed by the recording device. The method further includes a selection accepting step, and a determination step of determining, as a recording condition of the overlap-processing of an actual recording, the recording condition of the overlap processing corresponding to the patch selected in the selection accepting step.

A printer includes an ink ejection unit configured to eject ink to a print medium, a transport belt on which the print medium is mounted, a driving section configured to transport the print medium by moving the transport belt, a specifying section configured to specify a print head to be adjusted using a test pattern, markers configured to indicate a position of the print medium when the test pattern is printed on the print medium, and a driving controller configured to control the driving section. The driving controller controls the driving section in accordance with the print head to be adjusted specified by the specifying section so as to adjust a position of the print medium.

Defective nozzle correction mechanism

A printing system is disclosed. The printing system includes at least one physical memory device to store nozzle correction logic and one or more processors coupled with at least one physical memory device to execute the nozzle correction logic to receive a uniformity compensated transfer function for each of a plurality of pel forming elements, receive an average missing neighbor transfer function, receive a defective nozzles list including one or more of the plurality of pel forming elements indicated as defective during print production; and perform missing neighbor processing by applying the average missing neighbor transfer function associated with the pel forming element determined to be a neighbor of a defective pel forming element.

A printing apparatus acquires characteristic information about a recording medium and executes a light quantity adjustment in a reading operation using a reading unit based on the acquired characteristic information. By using the above-described configuration, it is possible to prevent an increase in the number of processes for analyzing read data obtained by reading a test pattern.

INKJET PRINTER

A test image printer of an inkjet printer causes a test image, including a mark with a predefined shape and usable to correct an image captured by an image capturing device, and a test pattern usable to inspect a plurality of nozzles, to be printed on a recording medium. An image capture controller controls the image capturing device to capture an image of the test image printed on the recording medium. A corrector compares the image of the mark captured by the image capturing device, to the predefined shape of the mark, to calculate a correction value, and corrects the image of the test pattern, captured by the image capturing device, based on the calculated correction value. An inspector inspects the plurality of nozzles based on the image of the test pattern corrected by the corrector.

Enhanced print defect detection

Systems and methods are provided for. One embodiment is a system that includes an interface configured to receive an image of media printed on with print data, and memory configured to store defect reference data of nozzles belonging to printheads of a printer. The system also includes a print defect controller configured to detect a nozzle defect in the image based on a comparison of the image with the print data, and to determine a type of the nozzle defect based on a comparison of the nozzle defect with the defect reference data.
