This invention is directed to a recording sheet having improved image dry time for use in printing comprising a substrate having in contact with at least one surface thereof one or more water soluble divalent metal salts, preferably admixed with one or more starches, to process of forming such recording sheet, to a method of generating one or more image(s) on said recording sheet in a printing process and to a recording sheet having one or more images on a surface thereof.
PRINTABLE RECORDING MEDIA
A printable recording media containing a substrate; a pre-coat layer including more than about 60 wt % of one or more inorganic pigments by total dry weight of the pre-coat layer; a topcoating layer including more than about 60 wt % of one or more inorganic pigments; up to 25 wt % of binders and up to about 5 wt % of a combination of natural and synthetic rheology modifiers, by total weight of the top-coating layer, wherein the ratio of the amount of natural rheology modifiers to the amount of synthetic rheology modifiers is from about 90:10 to about 50:50. Also disclosed herein is a method for making such printable recording media.
MANUFACTURING OF DECORATIVE LAMINATES BY INKJET
A method for manufacturing decorative laminates includes the steps of a) impregnating a paper substrate with a thermosetting resin by submersion of the paper substrate in a bath of thermosetting resin; b) applying on the thermosetting resin impregnated paper substrate an ink acceptance layer containing an inorganic pigment P and a polymeric binder B having a weight ratio P/B of inorganic pigment to polymeric binder of larger than 1.5; c) jetting on the ink acceptance layer a colour pattern with one or more aqueous pigmented inkjet inks and/or organic solvent based pigmented inkjet inks containing a colour pigment C; and d) heat pressing the thermosetting paper into a decorative laminate, wherein the weight ratio P/C of the inorganic pigment of the ink acceptance layer to the jetted colour pigment in the colour pattern is larger than 4.0.
Paper precoat process
A process including providing a paper substrate; disposing a water soluble precoat composition onto all or a portion of the paper substrate to provide a treated paper; applying an image onto the treated paper using a toner or an aqueous ink to provide an imaged paper; wherein the water soluble precoat composition forms a temporary barrier between the toner or aqueous ink and the paper substrate; and wherein, during a paper pulping process, the water soluble precoat composition dissolves thereby releasing the toner or aqueous ink from the paper substrate.
