A method of manufacturing a paper or paperboard with improved printing properties, which method comprises the steps of, providing a paper or paperboard substrate, comprising cellulosic fibres, providing a coating composition comprising a mixture of an esterified or etherified starch and a inorganic mineral; and coating at least one surface of said substrate with at least one layer of said coating composition.

Embossed print media

The present disclosure is drawn to embossed print media including a media substrate having a front side and a back side, an embossed image-receiving layer formed on the front side of the media substrate at a coating weight of 3 gsm to 50 gsm, and a fabric liner coupled to the back side of media substrate via an adhesive layer. The embossed image-receiving layer can include a first pigment filler and a first polymeric binder. The adhesive layer can be applied at a coating weight from 20 gsm to 40 gsm and can include a second polymeric binder and a flame-retarding filler.

Primer compositions

The present disclosure is drawn to primer compositions, which can include a binder including polyvinyl alcohol, starch nanoparticles, and a crosslinkable polyurethane dispersion. The primer competitions can also include a cationic salt and water.

PRINTABLE RECORDING MEDIA

A printable recording media that comprises a base substrate with an image-side and a back-side and a coating composition comprising, at least, particles of metallic salt of C.sub.8-C.sub.30 alkyl acid chain or alkyl ester chain having a mean particle size (D.sub.50) above 3 μm and having about 99.5% of the particle size distribution which is less than 80 μm, inorganic pigment particles and/or mixture inorganic particles, and polymeric binders and/or mixture of polymeric binders, is applied to the image-side of the base substrate. Also described herein are a method for forming the printable recording media and a printing method that includes ejecting an ink composition onto the print media described herein.

PRINT MEDIA

The present disclosure is drawn to a base paper substrate that is cellulose-based and an ink-receiving layer on the base paper substrate. The ink-receiving layer, for example, includes a metal salt, inorganic particulates, a polymeric binder, and an emulsifier including a hydroxylated saturated hydrocarbon block including from 6 to 24 carbon atoms and a hydroxyl group and further includes a polyalkylene oxide block including form 10 to 35 polyalkylene oxide units selected from polyethylene oxide, polypropylene oxide, or a combination thereof.

METHOD FOR FORMING PRINT, THERMAL TRANSFER SHEET, AND COMBINATION OF THERMAL TRANSFER SHEET AND INTERMEDIATE TRANSFER MEDIUM

An intermediate transfer medium having a first transfer layer releasably provided on a support, a thermal transfer sheet in which a first colorant layer, a second transfer layer, and a second colorant layer are provided on one surface of a substrate so as being frame sequentially, and the second transfer layer is releasably provided from the substrate, and a transfer receiving article. The first colorant layer is used to form a first image on the first transfer layer of the intermediate transfer medium. The second transfer layer is transferred onto the first transfer layer on which the first image is formed, and then, the second colorant layer is used to form a second image on the second transfer layer. The first transfer layer is transferred together with the second transfer layer transferred on the first transfer layer onto the transfer receiving article to obtain a print having a stereoscopic image.

SURFACE TREATMENT COMPOSITION

A surface treatment composition comprising nanocellulose—such as microfibrillated cellulose (MFC)—and particles is provided. The particles comprise a supporting material and an active material comprising a salt of a multivalent metal. Various products comprising such a surface treatment composition and methods using said compositions are also provided.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING INKJET PRINTABLE PAPER OR FOIL FOR USE AS A DECOR PAPER OR FOIL

An inkjet receiver coating may be used in a method for manufacturing a paper or a thermoplastic foil that is printable with an inkjet printer. The paper or the foil may be used as a decor paper or a decor foil, respectively, in a laminate panel. The paper or the foil may be coated on at least one side with the inkjet receiver coating. The inkjet receiver coating may include at least pigment and binder, and an ink reactive compound.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING PANELS HAVING A DECORATIVE SURFACE

A method is provided for manufacturing a printed paper layer. The method may involve providing the paper layer with a printed pattern. Providing the printed pattern may involve depositing water based inks using a digital inkjet printer. The water based inks may be pigment containing inks. The dry weight of the deposited pigment containing inks may be lower than 9 grams per square meter. The paper layer may include an inkjet receiver coating, such that the inks are deposited on the inkjet receiver coating. The inks may be of at least four colors including black, cyan, red, and yellow.

Transfer paper

A transfer paper for heat transferring of ink to a textile, the transfer paper includes a base paper and a coating, and has a grease proof characteristics at a kit level of at least 3, such as 3 to 8, and the transfer paper having a dimensional stability of less than 1% over a period of 10 seconds.
