PRINTABLE FABRIC MEDIA

A printable fabric medium can include a fabric substrate and a polymeric particle blend including polysiloxane particles and polyolefin release particles pre-treated on the fabric substrate. A weight ratio of the polysiloxane particles to polyolefin release particles can be from 1:5 to 4:1, for example.

AQUEOUS COMPOSITIONS AND INKJET RECEIVING MEDIA

An aqueous composition can be used for pre-treating a substrate prior to inkjet printing to provide a white opaque background for inkjet-printed images. This aqueous composition includes: (a) one or more water-soluble salts of a multivalent metal cation at 5-30 weight %; (b) a nonionic or cationic water-soluble or water-dispersible polymeric binder material at 5-30 weight %; and (c) surface-treated visible light-scattering particles having a D.sub.50 (median) particle size of at least 0.04 μm and up to and including 2 μm in an amount of 5-60 weight % based on the total aqueous composition weight. The pre-treated substrate is useful as an inkjet receiving medium that can be readily inkjet-printed particularly with anionically-stabilized aqueous pigment-based inks.

A plurality of plastic sheets to be fed into a high speed printer for forming printed labels and similar articles and a stack of printed labels formed form the sheets. Each of the sheets or labels includes a core layer and opposed, upper and lower outer skin layers. The upper outer skin layer includes a polyolefin polymer as the predominant component, by weight, thereof and is capable of receiving printed indicia thereon. The core layer includes a polyolefin polymer as the predominant component, by weight, of the core layer; preferably a high crystallinity polypropylene homopolymer. The lower outer skin layer includes a polyolefin polymer as the predominant component by weight therein; the improvement wherein the lower outer skin layer includes a blend of organic and inorganic antiblocking agents or a blend of inorganic antiblocking agents; the blend including less than 10%, by weight, of the lower outer skin layer.

Pre-treatments for packaging print media

A pre-treatment coating composition includes evaporable liquid vehicle and a pre-treatment coating matrix, including from 30 wt % to 70 wt % multivalent organic salt, from 5 wt % to 30 wt % dispersed polyurethane binder having a weight average molecular weight from 30,000 Mw to 100,000 Mw, from 0.5 wt % to 8 wt % of a high molecular weight polyvinyl alcohol binder, and from 10 wt % to 30 wt % of a low molecular weight polyvinyl alcohol binder. The low molecular weight polyvinyl alcohol binder and the high molecular weight polyvinyl alcohol binder are present in the pre-treatment coating matrix at a 3:1 to 15:1 weight ratio, and weight percentages are based on dry weight of the pre-treatment coating matrix.

PRIMER COATINGS FOR INKJET AND LIQUID ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTING
20220025196 · 2022-01-27 · ·

Aqueous primer compositions suitable for electrophotographic printing and inkjet printing are frequently incompatible with one another, such that coated substrates for each printing technique need to be stockpiled separately. Aqueous primer compositions containing components to facilitate both electrophotographic printing and inkjet printing and that remain compatible with each other may comprise a polyvalent metal salt dispersed in an aqueous fluid, and an amine-functionalized copolymer dispersed as an emulsion in the aqueous fluid, in which the amine-functionalized copolymer has an amine number of about 10 to about 180 mg KOH/g copolymer and a glass transition temperature of about 0° C. to about 50° C. Suitable amine-functionalized copolymers may be formed by an emulsion polymerization reaction of one or more first ethylenically unsaturated monomers lacking an amine group and one or more second ethylenically unsaturated monomers bearing at least one amine group.
