An aeration apparatus for a grain storage bin with a hopper bottom in which the apparatus includes (i) a primary duct extending diametrically across the bin in proximity to a top of the hopper bottom, (ii) two first secondary ducts in communication with the primary duct and extending circumferentially of the bin in two opposing directions from the first end of the primary duct towards respective discharge openings, and (iii) two second secondary ducts in communication with the primary duct and extending circumferentially of the bin in two opposing directions from the second end of the primary duct towards respective discharge openings. An inlet duct communicates the bin wall between an external aeration fan and the first end of the primary duct within the bin such that the fan is directed horizontally and coaxially with the primary duct.

A grain aeration system facilitates thorough and efficient aeration of grain within a grain bin. The system includes a grain bin having a top vent and a bottom vent. A stand is positioned within the grain bin. A duct includes a loop section supported on the stand and an extension extending from the loop section out through the bottom vent in the grain bin. The duct has a duct wall and a plurality of perforations extending through the duct wall. A blower drives air flow out of the bottom vent creating air flow into the grain bin through the top vent and into the duct wherein the blower is configured to aerate grain positioned within the grain bin.

GRAIN BIN CONDITIONING SYSTEM USING HEADSPACE AIR
20240008415 · 2024-01-11 ·

An air conditioning system and methods of use regulate a moisture content of an agricultural product in a grain bin. The system receives headspace air from the headspace of the grain bin, which generally has a higher moisture content than ambient air. The system further receives ambient air and mixes the headspace air and the ambient air into a ratio comprising a target moisture content. The air mixture is provided into a grain bin plenum, where it then permeates through to agricultural product, thereby regulating the moisture. The system and method can be used to bring the agricultural product to a target moisture content that is preferred when storing the agricultural product.

According to one aspect of the invention there is provided a method of drying a body of grain, comprising storing the body of grain in an elongate bag silo 10, providing at least a first outlet 22 intermediate a first end 16 and a second end 18 of the bag and at least a first and a second inlet (26, 28), situated intermediate the outlet 22 and the first end 16 of the bag. The second inlet 28 is spaced longitudinally further away from the first outlet 22 than the first inlet 26 and the first outlet 22 is the closest outlet to the second inlet 28 in a direction towards the second end 18 of the bag 10. The method further comprises providing a flow of air, between the inlets and the outlet such that a pressure differential between any of the inlets is maintained within a predetermined threshold.

Adapter device for coupling a construction heater to an existing grain bin aeration fan

An apparatus for connecting a heater to a grain bin aeration fan features a multi-piece adapter device having a connection adapter with inlets for receiving flexible ducts from a heater. The connection adapter can be used on its own to directly interface with a grain bin aeration fan of a first size, or can be used in combination with a cooperative sizing adapter to adjust an effective outlet size of the adapter to better fit a grain bin aeration fan of a different second size. An ambient air intake in the connection adapter entrains ambient air into the heated air stream.
