The invention allows using a commodity hardware (e.g. a smartphone, a tablet, a computer . . . ) to automatically establish a high level of assurance authentication and identification of any government-issued identity document of a user (e.g. identity card, driving license, passport . . . ) and link that to digital identity counterpart. Moreover, the invention allows personalizing a material-based security feature provided of said government-issued identity document to create a link between the identity document and its data content that can be read by such a commodity hardware and serves as reliable credential for accessing a service once the material-based security feature has been authenticated via the commodity hardware and a signature of the identity data of the user has been authenticated by a server of an authority.

A composition including a first color shifting pigment having a first color shift that extends from a starting color at normal through a plurality of colors as a viewing angle is increased to a final color, wherein the first color shift rotates counterclockwise relative to, and about, an origin of the L*a*b* color space; and a color filter that transmits a portion of the first color shift of the first color shifting pigment and absorbs a remainder of the first color shift of the first color shifting pigment; wherein the composition has a second color shift different from the first color shift; and wherein the second color shift has a first portion that rotates counterclockwise relative to the origin and a second portion that rotates clockwise relative to the origin is disclosed. A security device including the composition is included. A method of making the composition and a method of authenticating the security device are also disclosed.

The exterior comprises: a first label of a first type of polychromatic ink to be activated at a first wavelength; and a second label of a second type of polychromatic ink to be activated at a second wavelength different from the first wavelength; the first label to indicate a first set of features to be configured at the electronic product using a first wireless signal; and the second label to indicate a second set of features to be configured at the electronic product using a second wireless signal. The structure is transparent to the first wireless signal and the second wireless signal.

A security device is disclosed including a substrate and one or more focusing elements or lens structures located on one side of the substrate. The security device includes a plurality of image elements associated with each focusing element wherein the image elements include at least first and second groups of image elements. Each image element may be composed of pixels located in an object plane to be viewable through the associated focusing element. Each image element comprises a diffractive grating element or sub-wavelength grating element which when illuminated by a light source generates a diffraction image observable at a range of viewing angles around the device. Image elements of the first group are visible in a first range of viewing angles and image elements of the second group are visible in a second range of viewing angles. The security device is particularly suitable for use on security documents, such as banknotes. A method of forming a security device is also disclosed.
