Chopper system with wear indicator

A chopper system for a sugarcane harvester comprises a chopper and a wear indicator. The chopper comprises a first chopper drum, a second chopper drum, and a timer. The timer has an operational configuration in which a first timer portion and a second timer portion are operatively connected to one another to coordinate rotation of the first and second chopper drums and a timing-adjustment configuration in which the first and second timer portions are operatively disconnected from one another allowing relative movement between the first and second timer portions and corresponding relative rotation between the first and second chopper drums to adjust a timing of operation between blades of the first and second chopper drums. The wear indicator indicates an extent of blade wear of the chopper upon adjustment of the timing of operation via the timer in the timing-adjustment configuration.

A bale spreading apparatus comprising a box frame which retains a bale of material, a conveyor on which a bale rests, the conveyor being operative to urge the bale in a longitudinal direction towards a spreader head which ejects bale material from the apparatus, wherein the spreader head comprises one or more rotors, the or each rotor comprising a vertically mounted rotatable shaft and a series of blades being mounted on at least one of said shafts.

KNIFE HOLDER FOR COUNTERKNIFE BANK ASSEMBLY FOR COMBINE HARVESTER

A knife holder for a knife bank of an agricultural vehicle. The knife holder includes a body having opposing legs separated by a channel, wherein the channel is sized for receiving a shaft to which the knife holder is mounted; a mount for mounting the body to a knife element; and an opening for receiving a fastener for mounting the body to the shaft such that fastening the body to the shaft causes the legs to deform and compressively contact the shaft and thereby either prevent or limit inadvertent movement of the body relative to the shaft in a direction that is normal to a longitudinal axis of the shaft.

Tool for mounting a chopping knife on a chopping drum

A tool for mounting a chopping knife to a chopping drum. The tool includes a clamping mechanism for releasably fixing the tool in an auxiliary bore of the chopping drum, a frame, an adjusting element, and a positioning element. The clamping mechanism is reversibly adjustable from a basic state, in which the clamping mechanism is unclamped, to a clamping state, in which the clamping mechanism is clamped. The adjusting element is reversibly displaceable relative to the clamping mechanism and/or the frame in a displacement direction along a displacement axis. The adjusting element reversibly adjusts the clamping mechanism from the basic state to the tensioned state. The positioning device positions the chopping knife on the chopping drum.

Adjustment Tool for Adjusting the Chopper Knives of a Forage Harvester

An adjustment tool is provided for adjusting the chopping knives of a chopper drum of a forage harvester. A frame is provided with a pair of fixings for engaging with a bore through the chopper knife. Edge alignment pins project from the frame for engaging with non-wearing edges of a chopper knife, thereby setting a position of non-wearing edges of the chopper knife relative to the bores. The edge alignment pins are positioned for alignment of a chopper knife with a predetermined amount of wear.

Agricultural baler with conditioning rotor and shear bar for feeding baling chamber

A crop cutting device for an agricultural machine according to the present invention comprises a shaft and a plurality of knives pivotally mounted on the shaft between a retracted position and an extended position. The shaft comprises first engaging means and each knife comprises second engaging means, wherein the first and second engaging means are configured to engage with each other, when the shaft is rotated to force at least one knife into one of the retracted position and the extended position.

Control of a chopper arrangement for an agricultural harvester

A controller for controlling a chopper arrangement of an agricultural harvester. The controller receives sensor data indicative of an intensity of chopping performed on crop material by the chopper arrangement, and sensor data indicative of a power consumption of the chopper arrangement. The controller has a processor to determine an actuator setting for a chopper arrangement actuator of the agricultural harvester in dependence on the received sensor data indicative of the intensity of chopping and the received sensor data indicative of the power consumption. The controller sends an actuator control signal to the chopper arrangement actuator to control the chopper arrangement actuator to operate in accordance with the associated determined actuator setting. The determined actuator setting includes an amount of insertion, and an angle of insertion, of at least one bank of counter knives of the chopper arrangement relative to rotatable knife rows of the chopper arrangement.
