A liquid applicator is described. The liquid applicator includes an applicating head, a buffer in communication with the outside air, a gas-liquid exchanger, and a reservoir supplying a liquid to the gas-liquid exchanger. The gas-liquid exchanger has a wick, a liquid sealing tube covering on the outer peripheral wall of the wick, and a gas-liquid channel disposed between the wick and the liquid sealing tube; the buffer covers on the outer peripheral wall of the liquid sealing tube, and capillary pressure of the liquid sealing tube is greater than capillary pressure of the buffer by 30% or more. The liquid applicator can effectively control the release of a liquid. It can prevent the liquid from leaking out. It features a simple structure, resulting in smooth application and easy manufacturing.

Each of the core component and the surrounding component may comprise fibers. The core component may have a first property, and the surrounding component may have a second property different from the first property, or the core component and the surrounding component may each have a different value or range of values for the same property. Alternatively, a reservoir may comprise a rod that includes fibers and has a cross-sectional diameter. At least one property of the rod may vary in value along the cross-sectional diameter of the rod. The property may include, for example, fiber bulk density, fiber diameter, fiber material, fiber morphology, fiber surface tension, capillary force, fluid absorption capacity, color, or combinations thereof.

Personal care implement with fluid delivery system

A personal care implement with a fluid dispensing system includes a fluid applicator, a fluid dispensing assembly including main and overflow reservoirs, and a capillary member in fluid communication with the reservoirs and the applicator for dispensing personal care fluid stored in the reservoirs via capillary action. An air venting system in one arrangement allows ambient air to be drawn into the main reservoir through the overflow reservoir for alleviating vacuum formed in the main reservoir by the capillary action fluid dispensing process. The venting system may include an external vent to atmosphere from the overflow reservoir and an internal vent between the reservoirs. In the event air trapped within the main reservoir expands due to changes in altitude or temperature, fluid in the main reservoir is expelled into the overflow reservoir via the internal vent. In one implementation, the personal care implement may be an oral care implement.

In one embodiment, the writing instrument includes a reservoir; an ink solution comprising a pigment, the ink solution being housed within the reservoir; a nib disposed at an end of the reservoir and plugging an opening of the reservoir such that the reservoir is closed, wherein a tip of the nib extends outside of the reservoir; and a filament extending within the reservoir, the filament being in fluid communication with a portion of the nib within the reservoir, such that the ink solution travels along the filament and through the nib, by capillary action, wherein the nib and filament are formed such that no more than 50 percent of the pigment present in the nib and filament flow into the reservoir outside of the nib and filament when the writing instrument is stored with the nib up for a period of one day.
