BICYCLE WHEEL RIM AND RELATIVE MANUFACTURING PROCESS
A bicycle wheel rim made at least partially of a stratified composite material comprising structural fibers incorporated in a polymeric matrix. At least one opening, which passes through at least one first layer of composite material, is provided and at least one spoke attachment hole, which passes through at least one second layer of composite material, is also provided. The spoke attachment hole is completely contained within the opening in the first layer. A related manufacturing process is also described.
Bicycle rim
A rim for a bicycle wheel that includes a tire, hub and spokes. The bicycle rim generally includes a radially outer tire-engaging portion, a radially inner spoke-engaging portion, a first sidewall and a second sidewall spaced apart from the first sidewall. The first and second sidewalls extend between the tire engaging and spoke-engaging portions. The tire-engaging and spoke-engaging portions and first and second sidewalls form a toroid. The rim when attached to the tire forms a side profile and a transverse cross section that positions a center of pressure of the rim.
Wheel with High Strength Flexible Spokes
A wheel with high strength flexible spokes of the present invention, including a rim and hub, and spokes between the rim and hub made of fibrous material that causes the spokes to be both lighter in weight and stronger than comparable steel spokes. The spokes are also flexible and resilient such that they can bend while retaining their integrity and strength. The wheel includes a nipple within the rim that receives the high strength spoke and allows for flexibility in adapting the spoke to wheels having differing shapes and sizes.
Bicycle rim
A bicycle rim comprises a base member, a cover member, and a spoke attachment member. The base member includes a truss structure that defines at least one opening. The cover member at least partly covers the at least one opening of the base member. The spoke attachment member is a separate member from the base member and the cover member. The spoke attachment member is non-rotatably attached to the base member.
SPOKE-STAR UNIT MADE OF A FIBRE-REINFORCED PLASTIC
A spoke star is made of a fiber-reinforced plastic and formed as a star-shaped closed ring, the spoke star having spokes between a hub-side inner circumference of the spoke star and a rim-side outer circumference of the spoke star, a single fiber bundle running repeatedly in the spoke star between the inner circumference and the outer circumference along spokes of the spoke star. The spokes may be formed as double spokes, the spokes having a loop at the rim-side outer circumference of the spoke star. The loops allow for a better load transfer to the spoke star.
Composite bicycle rim
A rim for a bicycle wheel includes a radially inner portion disposed along an inner circumference of the rim, a first sidewall, and a second sidewall spaced apart form the first sidewall. The first sidewall and the second sidewall extend radially outward from the radially inner portion. The radially inner portion includes a stack of strips of material. The stack of strips includes a plurality of strips and a hole through the plurality of strips. The plurality of strips are nonparallel to each other. The plurality of strips are positioned about the hole through the plurality of strips.
Damper assembly
A bicycle wheel assembly may include a rim, a hub assembly, a plurality of spokes and a damper assembly. The damper assembly includes a damping element configured to apply a damping force against at least one spoke of the plurality of spokes. The damping force may be applied in an axial direction of the bicycle wheel and/or to a segment of the at least one spoke near the hub assembly.
Method of manufacturing a lightweight wheel with high strength flexible spokes
A method of manufacturing a lightweight wheel with high strength flexible spokes of the present invention, includes providing a rim and hub, and a plurality of lightweight, flexible and resilient spokes between the rim and hub made of fibrous material that causes the spokes to be both lighter in weight and stronger than comparable steel spokes. The wheel includes a nipple within the rim that receives the high strength spoke and allows for flexibility in adapting the spoke to wheels having differing shapes and sizes.
NON-PNEUMATIC WHEEL
A non-pneumatic wheel having a plurality of lengthwise reinforced spokes each spoke having at least one separation extending from the radially inner end of each of the plurality of spokes to the radially outer end of each of the plurality of spokes forming at least two spoke web sections where the radially inner end of each spoke is mechanically attached to the hub and the radially outer surface of each spoke is bonded to the outer annular band.
NON-PNEUMATIC WHEEL AND METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION
A non-pneumatic wheel having a plurality of spokes attached within slots in a hub, the slots having a first retaining surface and a second retaining surface, the radially outer portion of the first retaining surface possesses a flared edge such that the radially outer portion of the first retaining surface curves away from the radially outer portion of the second retaining surface.
