ROTATION INDICATOR DEVICE
20200016926 · 2020-01-16 ·

There is provided a rotation indicator device for mounting onto a polygonal fastener, such as a wheel nut. The device comprises a body having a bore. A pair of tapered regions, which are formed of a resilient material, extend around a periphery the bore, each of the regions being resiliently deformable to, in use, securely and releasably mount the body onto the polygonal fastener such that a rotation of the device relative to the polygonal fastener is inhibited. The device may be used as a safety device to indicate the rotation, i.e. loosening, of the polygonal fastener.

Threaded fastener locking system

Fasteners such as bolts or nuts are locked by a ring and associated keys. The ring typically has a series of holes with the fasteners passing through these holes in the ring. The ring has an outer surface with studs extending upward therefrom. Typically one key for each fastener is placed adjacent to the ring after the fasteners are tightened against the ring in each hole of the ring. The key has a head opening which fits over a head of the fastener and keeps the fastener from rotating. The key also has a bore which fits upon the stud, with the stud preventing key rotation, and the key in turn preventing fastener rotation. A retainer such as a lock nut on a threaded stud or a snap ring in a grooved stud hold the key to the ring and keep the ring in position locking the fasteners.

Removable system for counting wheel revolutions

A system for counting wheel revolutions made by a wheel of a vehicle, the system including an electronic counter, a transmitter, a housing, and a connector. The electronic counter counts a number of wheel revolutions made by the wheel. The transmitter transmits data from the electronic counter to a remote database. The housing houses the electronic counter. The connector removably attaches the housing to a nut anti-loosening device installed on the wheel.

Wheel lock bolt removal tool and method of use

A wheel lock bolt removal tool apparatus for removing a wheel lock from a vehicle wheel, the wheel lock having a wheel lock bolt with a spinning ring, the apparatus comprising an extractor comprising a collet and a sleeve received substantially coaxially over the collet, the collet body having a distal opening formed having a radially-inwardly-projecting distal lip, the distal opening and distal lip configured to pass over and seat on the spinning ring of the wheel lock as by engaging the lip on a distal edge of the spinning ring, the collet body configured to be selectively closed upon distal movement of the sleeve along the collet and further having a proximal end configured for application of an axial proximally-directed force in removing the spinning ring from the wheel lock bolt.

Anti-loosening device for a fastening unit of a motor-vehicle wheel

An anti-loosening device for a fastening unit of a motor-vehicle wheel is configured to be coupled with a wheel hub. The anti-loosening device is configured to be arranged within the wheel hub along an axial direction, so that a main axis of the anti-loosening device coincides with the wheel axis. The anti-loosening device includes a gear arranged to cooperate with inner teeth of the wheel hub, an elastic element extending axially with respect to the gear, and a coupling element obtained on a sector of said gear, arranged to receive a corresponding fastening. During assembly of the wheelhub assembly, the anti-loosening device is arranged to create a compressed configuration, wherein the gear is decoupled with respect to the inner teeth, and is arranged within a cavity portion obtained on the inner surface of the wheel hub, so as to allow rotation of the anti-loosening device around the main axis.

Wheel sensor

A wheel loosening sensor configured to detect loosening of a wheel of a vehicle, the wheel loosening sensor including: a water tight housing that is permanently sealed, wherein at least two electrical terminals are exposed at an exterior of the water tight housing. Within the water tight housing, there is a transmitter and a battery, the transmitter being configured to receive electrical power from the battery and to transmit a signal when the at least two electrical terminals are disconnected. The water tight housing including an electrically conductive element biased away from the at least two electrical terminals and configured to electrically connect the two electrical terminals when the bias is overcome.

SECURE LOCKING HUB SYSTEM
20190344619 · 2019-11-14 ·

A secure locking hub system for locking a wheel hub of a vehicle in a rotationally fixed position relative to an axle is provided. The system has a locking ring that may be moved between locked and unlocked configurations. When in the locked configuration, the wheel hub will not rotate and the vehicle thus cannot be moved. The system additionally has a security lock that prevents any unauthorized individual from unlocking the wheel hub, thereby preventing theft of the vehicle. The system includes a fastener designed to allow the system to be retrofitted to an existing vehicle axle without requiring replacement or mechanical modification of the axle.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MONITORING FASTENERS

A system, device, assembly, kit of parts for fasteners and method of operating same. The system comprises a plurality of detection devices in communication with a remote monitor. The devices are mounted to fasteners and detect loosening of said fasteners by sensing a separation of a sensor on one device from a portion of a neighbouring device.

Loose wheel nut indicator and restrainer
10428861 · 2019-10-01 · ·

An apparatus (10) for visually indicating a loose wheel nut (57) on a wheel of a motor vehicle has a plurality of wheel nut engaging members (12, 14, 16, 18, 20). Each wheel nut engaging member is rotatable with a respective wheel nut to which it is engaged and has a pointer (26) for indicating a start position of the wheel nut engaging member. Any two adjacent wheel nut engaging members of the plurality are interconnected by an elongate member (28) which is resiliently flexible so as to define an endless configuration of spaced apart but interconnected wheel nut engaging members. In use, any loosening rotation of a first wheel nut (57) will cause the engaging member (12) which engages that wheel nut and its pointer (26) to rotate therewith, thereby providing a visual indication of a loosening of that wheel nut.
