The power pack having at least one wire, a flexible button cap, a body housing, and circuit board with a switch. The at least one wire including a plurality of light sources. The at least one attachment portion including a clip portion providing for the installation of the at least one adaptor body to the bicycle spokes. The illumination device also includes a holder for the installation of the power pack to the bicycle wheel. Further, the illumination device may include a tubular body located in the internal cavity of the at least one adaptor body.

A lighting module has axial screws that extend axially rearwardly from a rearward surface of the module base and are respectively received in hollow screw bores extending axially rearwardly from a module mounting face of a vehicle wheel. A wheel that receives the lighting module has an axially inwardly facing sidewall into which are formed plural hollow bolt receivers. For each such bolt receiver, a keyed lock assembly having a radial bolt is provided within the body of the module. The bolt is operable to extend radially outwardly through a module bolt hole to a locked position within a respective wheel rim bolt receiver, locking the module to the wheel, and to be retracted radially inwardly to an unlocked position. A transparent cover of the lighting module protects plural LEDs mounted on a forward face of a circuit board.

An illumination apparatus for a vehicle is disclosed. The illumination apparatus comprises a photoluminescent portion disposed on a surface of a first component of a vehicle wheel assembly. The illumination apparatus further includes a light source located proximate the first component. The light source is configured to emit light at a first wavelength directed toward the photoluminescent portion. The photoluminescent portion is configured to convert the first wavelength to at least a second wavelength to illuminate the wheel assembly.

A wheel for a roller coaster or other amusement ride vehicle includes a self-contained illumination system. The wheel comprises a hub through which an axle is disposed, a web extending from the hub and including a plurality of apertures, and an annular seat at a periphery of the web for receiving a tire thereon, the annular seat cooperating with the hub and the web to define an annular cavity. A PCB is disposed in the annular cavity and has a plurality of LEDs aligned with the plurality of apertures on the web. A permanent magnet generator within the wheel powers the PCB and the LEDS, the generator completely confined to the interior of the wheel.

A vehicle wheel spinning device comprising a disk shaped housing having a front and back disk forming a cavity therein is disclosed. The front disk has a series of decorative apertures formed therein. A spinning disk is rotatably mounted within said cavity. Various visual effects are produced by providing on the surface of the spinning disk facing the front disk of said housing at least one section of a contrasting color to the remainder of the surface. When the spinning disk rotates the colors show through said apertures during rotation of the spinning ring. The spinning device is attached to the front of a vehicle wheel in a manner that the housing rotates with the wheel and the spinning disk rotates separately from the rotation of the housing and continues to rotate for a time after the wheel stops spinning.

A power generation system is provided configured for installation within a wheel of a vehicle. The system includes a stator having a plurality of face-mounted permanent magnets; and a rotor having a plurality of windings configured to rotate, with rotation of the wheel, in proximity to the permanent magnets thereby generating a current. The stator is mounted to a brake caliper of the vehicle. Also provided is a wheel-based vehicle display system including a light emitting diode (LED) array arranged on or within a wheel of a vehicle; a power source connected thereto; and a controller connected to the LED array. The display system is configured to display at least one of: textual information, visual images or full-motion video.

Systems and methods for controlling illumination of center caps in vehicle wheels

A system includes a wheel including a center cap having a first portion configured to rotate with the wheel and a second portion configured to remain stationary. The second portion includes a light source and a power storage module. The system further includes a generator configured to generate power and output the power to at least the power storage module, a power converter coupled between the power storage module and the light source, and a control module. The control module is configured to receive a signal indicative of a key associated with the vehicle being within a defined distance, and in response to receiving the signal, control the power converter to output the power generated by the generator and stored in the power storage module to the light source. Other examples systems and methods for controlling a light source in a wheel of a vehicle are also disclosed.

A wheel cover for a wheel of a vehicle may include a cover portion removably operably coupleable to the wheel via a first set of retention tabs, the cover portion may be centered at an axis of rotation of the wheel and may cover spokes of the wheel, and a button cap removably operably coupleable to the wheel cover via a second set of retention tabs, the button cap may be centered at the axis of rotation of the wheel. The first set of retention tabs may be urged by a wire ring into engagement with a lip of the wheel, the lip may extend around the axis of rotation at a center bore of the wheel. The second set of retention tabs may insert into corresponding ones of a set of retention slots disposed in the cover portion.
