Wheel apparatus for use with vehicles are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a wheel for a vehicle. The wheel has a groove disposed on an annular wall adjacent a drop well and extending away from the drop well. The example apparatus also includes a ring positioned in the groove.

WHEEL RESONATOR

A wheel resonator, which is provided by integrating a first member having a first welding surface with a second member having a second welding surface and includes a volume chamber and a communicating tube. The volume chamber has a flat shape and is configured to extend along an outer surface of a vehicle wheel when the wheel resonator is attached to the vehicle wheel. The first welding surface and the second welding surface are welded to each other, and are provided on a single welding plane. The welding plane extends in a circumferential direction and a width direction of the vehicle wheel when the wheel resonator is attached to the vehicle wheel, is a plane on which the volume chamber is divided into two volume portions, and is a plane on which the communicating tube is divided into two communication portions. The communicating tube extends along the welding plane.

A wheel resonator for reducing a resonance phenomenon inside a tire of a vehicle may include a plurality of wheel resonators mounted to a tire wheel. First and second wheel resonators of the plurality of wheel resonators are fixed with each other by a fastening part including a protrusion disposed on an end of the first wheel resonator penetrating through a hole disposed in an end of the second wheel resonator. An end portion of the protrusion has a size greater than a size of the hole. As such, quality of a wheel through more reliable noise reduction by making a wheel resonator in a manner of forming a fitting type fastening part in the wheel resonator itself and fixing the wheel resonator by ultrasonic welding can be improved.

Disclosed are a method of configuring an additional air chamber member on an outer circumferential surface of a well portion of the vehicle wheel as a Helmholtz resonator in a tire air chamber, comprising: preparing a plurality of additional air chamber members for each size of the vehicle wheel, each additional air chamber member corresponding to a different resonance frequency; and selecting one of the additional air chamber members with the corresponding resonance frequency from the additional air chamber members in accordance with a size of a tire used in combination with the vehicle wheel and an additional air chamber member information system using the method.
