DECORATIVE APPLIQUE WITH POLYMERIC OVER-COATING AND METHOD OF APPLYING SAME
A vehicle wheel is defined by a substrate including a face and a rim portion. The face defines a plurality of spokes extending radially outwardly between a central portion of the face and the rim portion and defining a mating portion. An applique is affixed to the wheel at the mating portion. A polymer over-coating that is substantially transparent extends over the applique and the wheel substrate defining a continuous polymer surface over the applique and the wheel substrate.
METHOD OF COATING A CAST ALLOY WHEEL PROVIDING A TWO-TONE APPEARANCE
A cast wheel having an alloy substrate includes a primary surface and a secondary surface. A first polymeric coating is applied to the primary surface and to the secondary surface sealing the cast alloy wheel within the first polymeric coating. An intermediate polymeric coating is applied over the first polymeric coating. The intermediate polymeric coating is coated with metal using physical vapor deposition with the metal being aesthetically distinguishable from the first polymeric coating. A third polymeric coating is applied over the metal. The third polymeric coating, the intermediate coating and the metal from the primary surface of the cast alloy wheel are removed aesthetically distinguishing the primary surface from the secondary surface. A fourth polymeric coating is applied over the primary surface and the secondary surface.
Method of coating a cast alloy wheel providing a two-tone appearance

VEHICLE WHEEL ASSEMBLY
A vehicle wheel assembly includes a wheel. A tire is disposed around the wheel. A wheel cap is coupled to the wheel and includes a polymeric base. A substantially transparent cap is positioned on the base which defines a first surface and a second surface. The second surface integrally defines an optical grating.
VEHICLE COMPONENT WITH A MULTI-LAYER PAINT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
A vehicle component with a multi-layer paint system and a method for producing the same. The vehicle component has a multi-layer paint system applied to a base body of the vehicle component. The multi-layer paint system has at least a first color-giving coating layer and a second color-giving coating layer covering the first color-giving paint layer. The first color-giving coating layer and the second color-giving coating layer are separated from each other by a light-permeable intermediate coating layer. The second color-giving coating layer is removed in partial areas of the multi-layer paint system, such that the first color-giving coating layer is visible in these partial areas.
BICYCLE RIM, BICYCLE RIM PRINTING APPARATUS, AND PRINTING METHOD OF PRINTING NON-CONTACT PRINTED DEPOSIT ON ANNULAR RIM BODY
A bicycle rim comprises a tire-attachment portion, an inner peripheral portion, a first side portion, a second side portion, and a first non-contact printed deposit. The inner peripheral portion is provided radially inwardly from the tire-attachment portion with respect to a rotational center axis of the bicycle rim. The first side portion includes a first curved surface. The first non-contact printed deposit is at least partly provided on the first curved surface. A first tangential line is defined on the first curved surface in which the first non-contact printed deposit is provided. A first surface angle is defined by the first tangential line and a reference plane perpendicular to the rotational center axis. The first surface angle is larger than 30 degrees.
Vehicle wheel decoration method and decoration device
A vehicle wheel decoration method includes a setting step of detachably holding a wheel body in the holding member such that the wheel design face faces the discharge nozzle, and a decoration step of forming a decorative layer on the wheel design face by discharging paint from a discharge opening of the discharge nozzle toward the wheel design face while relatively moving the discharge nozzle in two directions with respect to the wheel design face of the wheel body held in the holding member, and, in the decoration step, the wheel body is relatively inclined in a direction which crosses moving directions toward the two directions by a relative move of one of the discharge nozzle and the holding member or relative moves of both of the discharge nozzle and the holding member, and the discharge opening of the discharge nozzle is relatively moved in the two directions.
