Molded foam articles are provided. The molded foam articles are formed from polylactic acid and are capable of a number of post-processing or secondary uses. Forming the molded foam articles from polylactic acid advantageously extend the life of the molded bead foam article by permitting users to cut, heat, adhere, modify, and repurpose the molded foam articles.

A system and device used to substantially plug a mouth of a vessel to inhibit an article from cresting above the mouth and spilling outside the vessel and to retain a portion of the article within the vessel without damaging the article. The plug includes a first plug piece and a second plug device, which are positioned adjacent and contacting each other to form a plug body forming a plug channel. An indentation is disposed on the periphery of the plug body to correspond to and engage with a lip defining the mouth. When the indentation engages the lip, upper surfaces of the plug pieces may rest coplanar.

An elongated bag for use as a ready-to-use grow bag. The bag is manufactured as an elongated plastic body with a sealed bottom and a sealable top. The bag includes one or more gussets defined by folds in the bag and a score line for a tear strip in an area sufficiently below the top and above the fill material to allow the bag to lie flat for transportation and deploy into a cylinder for planting. The bag includes drain holes near the bottom of the bag and microperforations along the bag for respiration.

Planters are provided. The planters include one or more molded foam articles that are formed from polylactic acid. Forming the molded foam articles from polylactic acid advantageously enables air and water transport through the walls of the planter, reduces the overall weight of the planter, enables highly customizable shapes and sizes of planters, and enables compostability of the planter.
