RADIAL TIRE HAVING AN IMPROVED BELT STRUCTURE

A radial tire, notably for a passenger vehicle or van, has an improved belt structure comprising a multilayer composite laminate with a first layer of rubber comprising heat-shrinkable circumferential textile reinforcers, preferably in the form of monofilaments or assemblies of monofilaments; this first layer radially (in the direction Z) surmounts two other layers of rubber, reinforced by reinforcers all or some of which are composite reinforcers made up of steel monofilaments sheathed with a thermoplastic material, the glass transition temperature of which is greater than 20 C. This laminate makes it possible to lighten the belts of tyres by reducing the thickness of the layers of rubber that make up part of their structure, and therefore to reduce the weight and rolling resistance of the tyres, without the risk of direct contact between the reinforcers.

RADIAL TIRE HAVING AN IMPROVED BELT STRUCTURE

A radial tire, notably for a passenger vehicle or van, has an improved belt structure comprising a multilayer composite laminate with a first layer of rubber comprising heat-shrinkable circumferential textile reinforcers, in the form of monofilament fibres twisted individually on themselves according to a twist greater than 100 turns per metre; this first layer radially (in the direction Z) surmounts two other layers of rubber, reinforced by reinforcers all or some of which are composite reinforcers made up of steel monofilaments sheathed with a thermoplastic material, the glass transition temperature of which is greater than 20 C. This laminate makes it possible to lighten the belts of tyres by reducing the thickness of the layers of rubber that make up part of their structure, and therefore to reduce the weight and rolling resistance of the tyres, without the risk of direct contact between the reinforcers.

RADIAL TIRE HAVING A VERY THIN BELT STRUCTURE

A radial tire, notably for a passenger vehicle or van, has a very thin belt structure comprising a multilayer composite laminate of specific construction, with a first layer of rubber reinforced by circumferential textile reinforcers in the form of monofilaments or assemblies of monofilaments, preferably slightly heat-shrinkable, for example made of nylon or of polyester, this first layer radially (in the direction Z) surmounting two other layers of rubber, reinforced by high-strength steel monofilaments. The mean thickness of rubber, measured in the radial direction (Z), separating a first reinforcer from the second reinforcer which is closest to it, and that separating a second reinforcer from the third reinforcer which is closest to it, are both less than or at most equal to 0.35 mm.

A pneumatic vehicle tire having a carcass with textile carcass strength elements, a belt arranged radially outside the carcass, and a belt bandage ply of a belt bandage arranged radially outside the belt, wherein the belt bandage ply has textile cords as strength elements, which are arranged substantially parallel to one another and are embedded in elastomeric material, wherein the cords each have precisely two yarns, wherein the two yarns are yarns of polyamide 6.6 (PA 6.6), which have the same linear density and are end-twisted together to form the cord.

BICYCLE TYRE

The invention relates to a bicycle tyre. A puncture-resistant fibre layer (4) having a plurality of polymer, parallel running tyre reinforcing elements (12) is arranged between the tyre tread (2) and the tyre carcass. Said reinforcing elements (12) are arranged at an angle of between approximately 80 and 110 degrees with respect to the peripheral direction (13) of the bicycle tyre.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A SINGLE BELT/OVERLAY COMPONENT FOR A PNEUMATIC TIRE

A method in accordance with the present invention manufactures a tire with a biaxial monolayer belt component (MBC). The method comprises the steps of: winding a cord continuously about a first drum according to a pre-defined pattern to create a mesh of cords defining a single belt/overlay structure; adjusting the structure to a predetermined position on the first drum by laser lights; applying a tread component to the structure; transferring the structure and tread component to a second drum; applying the structure and tread component to a carcass component on the second drum; reducing pressure of the carcass component by a predetermined amount; and stitching the structure and tread component to the carcass component.

In a tire having a belt ply that is formed from ply strips arranged at intervals in the tire circumferential direction, in order to prevent deterioration in durability when high modulus organic fibers are used in a band cord, said tire is provided with a belt layer comprising a belt ply, and a band layer comprising a band ply positioned to the outside of the belt layer in the radial direction. The belt ply is formed by a plurality of ply strips, which are narrow and have a prescribed length, arranged side-by-side with intervals therebetween in the tire circumferential direction. The band ply is formed by a ply tape, which is narrow and long, wound spirally in the tire circumferential direction. The band cord comprises a composite cord in which first strands, which comprise high modulus organic fibers, and second strands, which comprise low modulus organic fibers and are narrower than the first strands, are twisted together.
