A plant growing vessel includes an impervious outer vessel, a cover, a first permeable membrane, a nutrient chamber, and a pocket. The impervious outer vessel includes an inert substrate in a root zone. The cover is positioned over the impervious outer vessel. The first permeable membrane is in contact with the inert substrate. The nutrient chamber includes solid nutrients. The nutrient chamber is between the cover and the first permeable membrane or between the first permeable membrane and a bottom of the impervious outer vessel, and the solid nutrients are in contact with the first permeable membrane. The pocket is configured to allow seeds, seedlings, or shoots of plants access to the inert substrate through an aperture in the cover.

STORAGE SYSTEM WITH PARTITION MEANS AND METHODS

A storage system is described where goods are stored in containers and the containers are stored in stacks. Above the stacks runs a grid network of tracks on which load handling devices run. The load handling devices take containers from the stacks and deposit then at alternative locations in the stacks or deposit then at stations where goods may be picked out. The framework may be provided with one or more of the following services: power, power control, heating, lighting, cooling, sensing, and data logging. A method of partitioning the storage system prevents the spread of fire or prevent damage caused by sprinkler activation.

System and method for configuration of buildings or storage

A modular building system or storage system can include a number of stacks of container, each stack being positioned within a frame structure having uprights and a horizontal grid disposed above the stacks. The grid can include substantially perpendicular rails on which load handling devices can run. Containers having functions associated with a number of residential or commercial uses are moved in to and out of the stacks by the robotic handling devices running on the grid. The containers disposed in the stacks are selected by function on demand by a user, the building being reconfigurable to take into account required uses.

FACILITY FOR CULTIVATING PLANTS IN A CONFINED ATMOSPHERE

Disclosed is a facility for cultivating plants in a confined atmosphere, including: a container having a length, a width and an inner volume, at least one portion of the inner volume forming a cultivation compartment; a system for supporting vertical cultivation supports; vertical cultivation supports attached to the support system; a vertical lighting system including light sources for illuminating the plants and arranged facing the vertical cultivation supports; and a mobility system for either moving the lighting system or for simultaneously moving two vertical cultivation supports, or both.

HYDROPONICS

The invention relates to a planter forming part of a hydroponic system. The planter includes a longitudinal body defining at least two longitudinally extending liquid channels and at least two plant holders defined in the body, the plant holders spaced on the outer circumference of the longitudinal body, each one of the at least two plant holders in fluid flow communication with one of the at least two longitudinally extending liquid channels.

Robotic container handling device and handling method

A system and method for handling shipping containers is described. The container handling system comprises a crane, the crane comprising crane load handling devices. The container handling system further comprises conveyance means, the conveyance means further comprising transversal load handling devices. The system further comprises storage and sortation means for storing the containers in a series of stacks disposed beneath a grid, the grid comprising a series of load handling devices operable thereon. The crane load handling device removes a container from a ship, transports it to transversal load handling means operable on a conveyor. The container is moved on the conveyor to a transfer point where it is collected by a robotic load handling device for transport to the storage and sortation area.

Stackable container

The invention relates to a stackable container including a holding body, which has a bottom and a lateral wall, which bound a holding chamber. The holding body has stacking elements, which can be moved from a first position (P1) to a second position (P2) and which alternatively allow at least two such stackable containers to be stacked one inside the other and to be stacked one on the other. The holding body also has at least one drain opening in the region of the bottom of the holding body, and the bottom is designed to hold moisture and/or liquid present in the holding chamber and to guide the moisture and/or liquid toward the at least one drain opening. At least one of the stacking elements has a drain groove, which is designed to hold and to lead away moisture and/or liquid.
