At least over part of the circumference of the pneumatic vehicle tire, at least one circumferential groove (1) has a cross section perpendicularly to the circumferential direction that is made up of at least two groove portions adjoining one another in a radial direction R of the pneumatic vehicle tire. A first groove portion (4) is symmetrical with respect to the radial direction R of the pneumatic vehicle tire. The width of said groove portion in the axial direction A of the pneumatic vehicle tire is less than 3 mm and does not vary by more than 10%. A second radially inner groove portion (5) is made wider in the axial direction A in comparison with the first groove portion (4). It has the largest cross-sectional area of all the groove portions. Its cross-sectional area is asymmetrical to the radial direction R, extends on both sides of the radial direction R and has an edge without corners in the bottom region of the circumferential groove (1).

A sipe includes a first widened and a second widened portion. In a cross section orthogonal to the sipe extending direction, the sipe includes at least one bent portion, at least one bent portion has a widened portion where the width of sipe portions sandwiching the bent portion is increased, and at least one widened portion has a straight line portion, in which an angle formed with a line segment orthogonal to the normal line at the opening center of the sipe on the tread surface is 30° or more, in a wall surface on the major angle side of the bent portion of wall surfaces defining the widened portion.

Tire

A tire comprises a tread portion provided with at least one main groove extending continuously in the tire circumferential direction to axially divide the tread portion into land portions. The land portion is provided with axial grooves extending thereacross in the tire axial direction, and each comprising a radially outer portion and a radially inner portion which is wider than the radially outer portion. The radially outer portion of each of the axial grooves is crossed by one ore more sipes.

A pneumatic tire that has land portions formed by being partitioned by circumferential grooves and widthwise fine grooves formed therein so as to extend in a tire widthwise direction. The widthwise fine grooves have widened groove portions at a groove bottom thereof with an increased groove width. When the tire is worn to a depth of 50% of a depth from a treading face of an unused tire to an end face of a tread wear indicator, an outer side land portion cross sectional area ratio of the outer side land portion on the outer side in the tire widthwise direction is higher than an inner side land portion cross sectional area ratio of the inner side land portion on the side of a tire equator line. Thus, the pneumatic tire can suppress uneven wear from the middle stage of wear while a desirable wet grip performance is constantly maintained.

Tire

In a tire having a composite groove provided on a shoulder land portion, the durability of the shoulder land portion is improved. The tire includes a tread portion. The tread portion includes a first shoulder land portion including a first tread edge. The first shoulder land portion has a shoulder composite groove, and a recess formed on a buttress surface. The recess includes an opening edge on the buttress surface, a bottom surface along the buttress surface, and an inner wall surface connecting the opening edge to the bottom surface. The shoulder composite groove includes, in a transverse cross section thereof, a sipe element having a width not greater than 1.5 mm and extending in a tire radial direction, and a groove element connected to an inner side in the tire radial direction of the sipe element and having a width greater than 1.5 mm. The groove element is open at the bottom surface of the recess.

Tire tread

A tire tread (10) having one or more grooves (20.sub.1, 20.sub.2), one or more split bridges (24) arranged in each groove (20.sub.1, 20.sub.2), wherein the one or more split bridges (24) having a narrow gap (26) arranged along the width of the corresponding split bridge (24) and extending fully across the length and height of the corresponding split bridge (24), a top side of the one or more split bridges (24) is arranged closest to an outer side (16) of the tread (10), at least a portion of the top side is spaced apart from the outer side (16) of the tread (10) in a direction of a depth of the groove (20.sub.1, 20.sub.2) by a variable distance, and a bottom side of the one or more split bridges (24) is spaced apart from a bottom of the groove (20.sub.1, 20.sub.2) to form a void between the corresponding split bridge (24) and the bottom of the groove (20.sub.1, 20.sub.2).

Tire of which the tread comprises wavy grooves

A tire tread having a tread surface (20) in the new state and at least one wavy groove (1) opening into the tread surface, the groove is the new state having external cavities (11) that open onto the tread surface in the new state along a length (Le) and internal cavities (12) that do not open onto the tread surface. The external cavities (11) have a bottom (110) of which the points that are innermost in the tread are at a distance (H1) from the tread surface (20) in the new state, the internal cavities (12) having a bottom (120) of which the innermost points are at a distance (H22) from the same tread surface (20). The external cavities (11) and the internal cavities (12) being connected together by linking cavities (13). The tread (2) being such that at least two sipes (31, 32) are formed from the bottom (110) of the external cavities (11) and along an entire length (Le) of these external cavities (11).
