Thermoformed double tray system for cultivation of plants including a top tray which is stacked with a bottom tray. The top tray has cells for receiving a substrate. The bottom tray provides rigidity to the double tray system. The bottom tray has a baseplate which is provided with support elements to support the top tray. The baseplate has an outer edge which defines the outer contour of the bottom tray. A groove shaped deepening in the baseplate is extending in parallel with the outer edge. The deepening increases a bending stiffness of the bottom tray and provides rigidity to the double tray system. The deepening is provided with a reinforcing ribs which cross the deepening.

An urn and planter combination with a central plant holding cup shape, a first concentric ash and soil holding ring and a second concentric ash holding ring are contained within a main housing and covered by a main lid that has a central aperture to let the central cup protrude out. The first ring is placed around the central cup. The second ring is place around the first ring. The cup can hold a plant or bonsai tree. Slots in the outer wall of the cup correspond with slots in the inner wall of the first ring allowing the roots from the cup to migrate into the first ring thereby mingling with the ash and soil contained within the first ring. The second ring contains ash only. A secondary lid can cover the central opening of the cover.

A method and apparatus for continuous automated growing of plants utilizes a vertical array of plant supporting arms extending radially from a central column. Each arm has a plurality of plant receiving trough elements which receive the plant seedling and liquid nutrients and water. The plant supporting arms rotate on the hollow column which is motor-driven at its lower end and supported on a bearing mounted on a fixed central pipe at its upper end. The central pipe is fixed to a concrete base or post buried in the supporting surface.

One method includes providing a host container comprising sidewalls and a bottom wall that forms an interior processing volume. The method further includes depositing a growth substrate into the interior processing volume and positioning an insert member into the processing volume. The insert member includes a plurality of open-bottom cells, each of the plurality of open-bottom cells includes an open bottom portion and an open top portion. The growth substrate partially extends into each of the plurality of open-bottom cells. The method also includes depositing a plant material composition over the growth substrate. A planting device includes an outer shell and an inner shell. The outer shell has a closed first cavity therein. The inner shell is disposed in the first cavity. The inner shell is formed with a second cavity having an opening. The second cavity is filled with soil. Plant seeds are placed in the soil. The opening of the second cavity is sealed with a first water-permeable layer. A side wall of the first cavity, opposite the opening of the second cavity, is a seepage layer. A retaining wall is provided around an outer side of the seepage layer to form a water storage trough. A method for manufacturing the planting device is provided. The planting device enables plants to grow out of the shell from a closed cavity, reducing the soil pollution to the environment and the impact on human health. It is convenient for planting, just watering.

The base includes a conical portion located at a substantially central location and a plurality of base ribs extending radially from an outer surface of the conical portion toward the interior surface of the main body.
