Lightweight tire

A tire has an axis of rotation. The tire includes two inextensible annular bead structures for attachment to a vehicle rim, a carcass-like structure having at least one reinforced ply, the carcass-like structure being wound about the two bead structures, a tread disposed radially outward of the carcass-like structure, and a shear band structure disposed radially between the carcass-like structure and the tread. The two bead structures include at least one layer of a three dimensional fabric including a tear drop frame structure and open cells defined by the tear drop frame structure.

The second family comprises at least two carcass layers, adjacent each to the next, extending, within each bead, from outside towards inside of the tire, as far as their respective ends (E.sub.2) which are radially inside of axial straight line (D.sub.Y) through centre (O) of bead wire (6) and axially inside of a radial straight line (D.sub.Z) through centre (O) at axial distance (d.sub.2) at least equal to 5 mm. The carcass layers of the second family are axially inside of at least one turn-up of a carcass layer of the first family.

A flipper is arranged between the carcass and a bead core, which wraps the bead core from the inside in the tire radial direction, and the outer side end portion of the flipper in the tire width direction extends to the inside in the tire width direction from the end portion of the belt in the tire width direction.

A pneumatic tire is described for heavy load and severe conditions. The tire has a carcass with one or more cord reinforced plies and a pair of bead portions. Each bead portion has at least one annular inextensible bead core about which the cord reinforced plies are wrapped. The bead core has a substantially flat bead face joined together with rounded ends on each side of the bead face.

Disclosed is a tire (1) which comprises: a bead core (10); a first bead filler (20); a first carcass (30); a second bead filler (40); and a rubber chafer (50) disposed at the outer side of the second bead filler (40) in the tread width direction. The second bead filler (40) covers a first bead filler outer end part (23) in the tread width direction, and a second bead filler inner end part (48) is disposed outside the bead core (10) in the tire radius direction. The rubber chafer (50) covers the second bead filler (40) in the tread width direction, and the loss tangent of the second bead filler (40) is smaller than the loss tangent of the rubber chafer (50).

The second reinforcing layer includes an axially inner second ply and an outer second ply. The outer second ply has an inner end positioned below the bead core. The inner second ply has an inner end located axially inward of the inner end of the outer second ply, and has a substantially same length as the outer second ply in a tire cross-section.
