ROTARY SEAL APPARATUS AND ARRANGEMENT OF A ROTARY SEAL APPARATUS IN AN AXLE SUPPORT SYSTEM
Rotary seal systems and apparatus communicate a working fluid between first and second associated machine components that are rotatable relative to each other. A rotary seal apparatus includes annular inner and outer sleeve members for engaging the associated machine components, and a sealing system disposed between the inner and outer sleeve members. The sleeve members each define respective passageways extending through sleeve bodies thereof, and the sealing system forms a fluid chamber between the sleeve bodies defining an annular fluid channel operable to communicate the working fluid between fluid ports of the associated machine components via the passageways of the sleeve members. The rotary seal system may be provided in combination with an axle having a radial passageway opening outside of axially spaced apart first and second bearings carrying the axle.
Rotary joint assembly for a tire inflation system
A rotary joint assembly for a tire inflation system includes a rotating portion. The rotating portion is attached to a wheel rim for rotation therewith. The rotating portion includes a center portion which has an air passageway formed therein. The rotary joint assembly also includes a non-rotating portion. The non-rotating portion has a non-rotating portion air passageway formed therein. The non-rotating portion air passageway is in fluid communication with the air passageway formed in the rotating portion via a chamber. A pair of annular sealing members are attached to the rotating portion and sealingly contact a sealing surface of the non-rotating portion. The annular sealing members define an inboard end and an outboard end of the chamber.
Air storage system for rapid tire inflation
A tire inflation system is provided for a vehicle supported by a plurality of inflatable tires. The system includes a compressor, a main air storage tank and an auxiliary air storage tank. An automated shut off valve is disposed between the main air storage tank and the auxiliary air storage tank. An inflation sensor is arranged to detect an inflation pressure provided to the tires. A controller has a rapid inflation mode configured to initially communicate stored compressed air from both the main air storage tank and the auxiliary air storage tank to the tire or tires being inflated, and to then close the automated shut off valve so that additional compressed air from the compressor is communicated to the tire or tires being inflated without repressurizing the auxiliary air storage tank.
Pressure Balance Valve
An assembly for an ATIS that includes a tire inflation valve and a tire deflation valve, and further includes a safety valve that is configured to receive the tire pressure, deflate a tire when tire pressure is too high such as due to braking heat, road friction, ambient temperature, or other reasons. The safety valve prevents deflation of the tire through the deflation valve in the case of low source pressure, such as the pressure source fails or a leak in the source pressure system lines. The assembly is designed to be quickly serviced in the field, where the serviceable parts are very inexpensive. Multiple devices can be installed in parallel with the others, with one device per tire or tire set. The assembly can be a block configured to be attached to a hub cap of a vehicle. It also enables a sensor placement on the hub cap for hub temperature sensing as well as tire pressures sensing and reporting.
Central Tire Deflation/Inflation System
A tire deflation and inflation system for a vehicle. The system includes a unit bearing having a plurality of wheel flanges for mounting a wheel thereto. The unit bearing is configured to receive therein a portion of an axle of the vehicle. A wheel hub is mounted to the unit bearing. An air chamber is defined by the unit bearing. In response to positive air pressure generated by an air pressure source, air flows through the air chamber to a tire of the wheel mounted to the unit bearing to increase air pressure of the tire. In response to negative air pressure generated by venting the system to atmosphere, air is drawn out of the tire through the air chamber.
ROTARY PNEUMATIC SEAL FOR A CENTRAL TIRE INFLATION SYSTEM
A rotary pneumatic seal may have a ring-shaped inner radial seal with an inner lip extending in an axial direction, an outer lip extending in the same axial direction, a connecting flange connecting the inner lip and the outer lip, a pneumatic sealing lip, and an oil sealing lip. The rotary pneumatic seal may also have a ring-shaped outer radial seal located radially outward from the inner radial seal. The outer radial seal may also have a first wall extending in an outward radial direction, a second wall extending in an opposite inward radial direction, a central flange connecting the first and second walls, and a dust lip.
WORK VEHICLE WITH PARTIALLY ROTATABLE TIRE INFLATION PACK
An axle assembly for a work vehicle includes: a frame housing; a differential housed in the frame housing; an axle carrier coupled to the frame housing; an axle partially disposed in the axle carrier and coupled to the differential; and a tire inflation pack including: a fixed portion coupled to the axle carrier and comprising a pack fluid inlet that is configured to fluidly couple to a pressurized gas source and a fixed opening holding the axle therein, the fixed portion being configured to allow rotation of the axle in the fixed opening without rotating; and a rotatable portion rotatably coupled to the fixed portion and comprising a pack fluid outlet that is fluidly coupled to the pack fluid inlet and a rotatable opening holding the axle therein, the rotatable portion being fluidly sealed with the fixed portion and configured to rotate with the axle.
On-board centralized system for regulating the pressure of the tyres of a motor-vehicle
An on-board centralized system for regulating pressure of tyres of a vehicle includes a pressurized air source, two pneumatic rotary joints each associated to a driving wheel of the vehicle, and a circuit that sets in communication the pressurized air source with each rotary joint. An output member of a constant-velocity joint and a wheel spindle have an internal duct for air passage, connected to the respective rotary joint and to a plenum of the respective driving wheel. Each non-driving wheel has its wheel spindle traversed by an axial bore for air passage, connected to the circuit via a pneumatic rotary joint and a plenum of the non-driving wheel, which is connected to the inner chamber of the tyre. Each driving or non-driving wheel has its plenum connected to the inner chamber via two parallel lines, for deflating and inflating, respectively, the tyre interposed in which are respective one-way valves.
Steer axle tire inflation system
A steer axle spindle may have one or more channels formed therein. A rotary union may be mounted to a steer axle wheel end assembly. The rotary union may be sealingly connected to a pressurized fluid source through the channel, and sealingly connected to a vehicle tire.
SYSTEM FOR TRANSMITTING CONTROL PRESSURES AND/OR WORKING PRESSURES
A system (40) for transmitting control pressures and/or working pressures from a wheel-hub pressure medium supply (20, 21, 22), in particular from a wheel-hub pressure medium rotary union (21), to a vehicle rim (2) mounted on the wheel hub (1).
