A system for attaching a safety chain between a tow vehicle and a trailer, said system including: at least one, but preferably two safety chains permanently attached to the trailer, each safety chain having first and second ends which are interconnected by interlocking chain links, with the first end secured to a releasable attachment for attaching the first end to the tow vehicle; and a locking/unlocking mechanism on each safety chain that is permanently attached to the trailer, and that releasably locks its respective safety chain so that a desired working length of that that safety chain can be provided, where the working length is measured between the locking/unlocking mechanism and the first end. The system provided optimum connection between the tow vehicle and the trailer in the event of a primary decoupling.

The mount has a base including a face defining a plurality of holes, extending across the headboard. The mount is attached to the at least two sidewalls at a first and second end of the base. The plate is configured to support a winch on the base of the mount. The plate includes a bracket to slide on the face and is configured to secure the plate at any of the plurality of holes on the face between the first and second ends.

The free end extends around at least a part of the vehicle recovery equipment to retain the vehicle recovery equipment. The mounting arrangement also comprises a releasable connector for securing towards or proximal the free end of the strap. Loosening of the releasable connector deploys the vehicle recovery equipment. The mounting arrangement comprises an anchor system comprising an anchor strap extending around a part of the vehicle allowing the anchor system to be mounted at different parts of the vehicle. Also disclosed is a method for mounting the vehicle recovery equipment to a vehicle.

In one embodiment the trailer attachment plate is secured to a trailer frame by inserting a trailer ball through a trailer ball opening in the trailer attachment plate. In another embodiment, the trailer attachment plate is secured by using a lower attachment plate and bolts to clamp the trailer frame between the attachment plate and the lower attachment plate. In another embodiment, a standoff attachment bracket is provided that clamps the trailer frame between the lower portion of the bracket and an attachment plate using bolts. A ratchet tie-down is attached to the upper portion of the bracket.
