A plug for insertion into a through hole of a king pin coupler plate of a trailer includes a body defining two opposite axial directions and having a cylindrical, circular and continuous outer surface defining a perimeter. A plurality of pliable ears extend from the outer surface. The ears are each individually aligned in the axial directions. The ears each have a width that is less than ten percent of a distance around the perimeter of the outer surface of the body.

The present technology describes systems and methods for power coupling of a tractor-trailer system. The technology may include a robotic arm, an end effector, a coupling tool, and a tool resting rack. An electrical outlet on a trailer may be coupled with a tool under control of the end effector and positioning of the robotic arm. The end effector may include a housing, a motor, a clutch, and a drive shaft. A tool coupled to the end effector may include an electro-mechanical (EM) coupler. The EM coupler may include a housing, an electric plug, a lid lifter, a lead screw, and a servomotor.

A fifth wheel cover is disclosed herein. The fifth-wheel hitch cover includes a magnetically attachable support with an integrated reel apparatus. Additionally, the reel supports a cover that is retractable, and the cover has a magnetic anchor bar on the end opposite the reel. The fifth wheel cover may come in the form of a storage box containing the cover therein. The storage box is then mounted onto a frame of a truck. A user may then retract the cover to provide protection to the fifth wheel from weather and debris. Additionally, a heated underplate may be included beneath the fifth wheel to provide protection from debris that may come in contact with the fifth wheel. Another embodiment includes a fifth wheel cover having a frame including foldable arms which extend a cover over the fifth wheel.

A protective apparatus for a trailer tongue jack having a head and a column may include a protective cover having a shape that substantially conforms to the shape of the head, and an opening to accommodate the column when the protective cover is placed on the jack. First and second hook holders may be adapted to connect hooks for first and second trailer safety chains to the protective cover when the chains are not in use. A plug holder may be adapted to hold a plug for a trailer wiring harness when the harness is not in use. The protective cover may include an access port that aligns with a user interface on the jack when the protective cover is placed on the jack.

The circular bearing seat (26) on the circular ring-shaped bearing disc (25) has a first sliding bearing edge (261) on the inner circular opening and a second sliding bearing edge (262) on the outer rim, in which the dust cap device (1) engages. A coupling device for coupling a first vehicle to a second towed vehicle includes a pillar for mounting to a towbar of the first vehicle, the pillar defining a primary longitudinal axis and including an upper portion, a lower portion adapted for engagement with the towbar of the first vehicle, and an intermediate portion including a radially protruding locking flange, a coupling body adapted for sleeved engagement with the upper portion of the pillar, the coupling body including at least one locking device for locking the coupling body to the locking flange of the pillar, and a rotary cap operatively associated with the at least one locking device and adapted for rotation relative to the coupling body. Rotation of the rotary cap causes the locking device to pivot between at least a locked position and an unlocked position.

A hitch assembly comprising a receiver having an opening for receiving a hitch member, an anti-rattle member secured with respect to the receiver, and a hitch member comprising a hitch body configured to be received by the receiver, and an engagement portion, wherein when the hitch body is received by the receiver, the engagement portion bears against the anti-rattle member causing at least a portion of the anti-rattle member to resiliently deform in a manner that a reaction force from the resilient deformation causes the hitch body to bear against the receiver.

A king pin coupler assembly of a fifth wheel coupling. A coupler plate has a king pin aperture therein. A king pin is positioned to extend axially through the king pin aperture of the coupler plate. The king pin has a first portion with a neck for engaging a fifth wheel of the fifth wheel coupling, the first portion extending to a first side of the coupler plate. The king pin has a second portion on a second side of the coupler plate and welded to the coupler plate. A shielding apparatus is secured to one or both of the king pin and the coupler plate. The shielding apparatus includes a cover sealed to the first side of the coupler plate. The cover extends over the first portion of the king pin to shield the first portion of the king pin during liquid immersion of the king pin coupler assembly.
