A lightweight vehicle includes a pair of rear wheel assemblies, a pair of front wheel assemblies, a chassis, a front suspension system coupling the pair of front wheel assemblies to the chassis, a rear suspension system coupling the pair of rear wheel assemblies to the chassis, a frontmost seat supported by the chassis, a rearmost seat supported by the chassis where at least a portion of the rearmost seat is located longitudinally rearward of an axis extending through a center of the pair of rear wheel assemblies, a first footwell associated with the frontmost seat, a second footwell associated with the rearmost seat where the first footwell and the second footwell are coplanar, and an electric motor configured to drive the pair of rear wheel assemblies and at least partially positioned beneath the rearmost seat.

At least a portion of the rearmost seat is located longitudinally rearward of an axis extending through a center of the pair of rear wheel assemblies.

The rearmost seat faces forward. At least a portion of the rearmost seat is located longitudinally rearward of an axis extending through a center of the pair of rear wheel assemblies. The floorboard is substantially flat such that a first footwell in front of the frontmost seat and a second footwell in front of the rearmost seat are coplanar.

The rearmost seat faces forward. At least a portion of the rearmost seat is located longitudinally rearward of an axis extending through a center of the pair of rear wheel assemblies. The floorboard is substantially flat such that a first footwell in front of the frontmost seat and a second footwell in front of the rearmost seat are coplanar.

MOTOR VEHICLE WHEEL SUSPENSION

A wheel suspension for a motor vehicle including a control arm having a control arm portion and a cantilever spring portion fixed to the control arm portion. A retainer spaced from the control arm connects the cantilever spring portion to a vehicle subframe. The control arm portion may be made at least partly of fiber-reinforced plastic and having a wheel connecting point for a wheel carrier and at least one superstructure connecting point for a vehicle superstructure, for mounting pivotally about a pivot axis S. The spring portion may also be made at least partly from fiber-reinforced plastic.
