SUSPENSION SYSTEM

A vehicle suspension system includes left and right control arm assemblies each having a wheel mount structure, an upper control arm, and a lower control arm. Each control arm includes a first end configured to be pivotably connected to a frame structure of a vehicle and a second end rotatably connected to the wheel mount structure. The vehicle suspension system also includes a transverse leaf spring having an elongated body extending between the control arm assemblies, outer mounting brackets respectively connecting left and right ends of the elongated body to the left and right control arm assemblies, and one or more inner mounting brackets located between the outer mounting brackets. The transverse leaf spring is contoured such that a contoured portion of the elongated body deviates in a downward direction in order to extend below an electric drive system disposed within an internal space between rails of the frame structure.

The utility vehicle also includes an operator area supported by the frame assembly and a powertrain assembly supported by the frame assembly. The powertrain assembly includes at least an engine and a gearbox operably coupled to the engine. The utility vehicle also includes a cooling assembly fluidly coupled to at least the engine and supported by a front portion of the frame assembly. The cooling assembly includes a radiator with a lower portion positioned forward of an upper portion of the radiator.

An off-road vehicle has two front wheels and two rear wheels, the rear wheels being connected to a spool gear driven by a motor. The vehicle also has a left front brake, a right front brake and a single rear brake. Speeds of left and right front wheels are respectively monitored by left and right front speed sensors. A single sensor monitors a common speed of left and right rear wheels. Two user actuated braking input devices, for example a hand lever and a foot lever, may be used independently or concurrently to provide a braking command. An anti-lock braking system may use speed measurements from the various speed sensors to control selective application of pressure on the left front brake, the right front brake and the rear brake.

The wheel suspension arrangement includes a wheel holder for supporting a vehicle wheel. A first vertical end region of the wheel holder is pivotally attached to a vehicle support structure by a rigid control arm and a second vertical end region of the wheel holder is attached to the vehicle support structure by a leaf spring. A longitudinal direction of the leaf spring is arranged substantially in the transverse direction of the vehicle. The leaf spring is pivotally attached to the vehicle support structure at a transverse centre region of the vehicle, and a centre of the leaf spring in the transverse direction is located vertically offset from a pivotal attachment location of the leaf spring. The pivotal attachment location of the leaf spring is vertically offset towards the side of the rigid control arm.
