A lower-side spring receiving member is adapted to receive a compression spring provided with an effective part, end turn parts which do not elastically deform, and rising parts located between the effective part and the end turn parts, at a lower side of the compression spring. The lower-side spring receiving member is provided with a contact part which is formed to protrude outward from an end at one side in the extending direction thereof, and which is in contact with the rising part so as not to form a gap between the contact part and the rising part. The contact part is in contact with the rising part of the compression spring by an elastic force caused by elastic deformation, regardless of a load on the compression spring.

SUSPENSION WITH JOUNCE BUMPER BALANCED FOR CASTER CONTROL

A suspension includes a jounce bumper, and a striker. A spring biases the knuckle toward a first position. One of the spring and the jounce bumper is disposed forward of a kingpin axis of the knuckle and the other of the spring and the jounce bumper is disposed rearward of the kingpin axis. When in a first position, the spring is a first spring length. When in a second position, the spring is shorter than in the first position and the jounce bumper contacts the striker. When in a third position, the spring is shorter than in the second position and the jounce bumper is compressed against the striker to be shorter than in the second position. When moving between the second and third positions, the spring and jounce bumper impart moments on the knuckle that approximately balance each other to maintain a desired caster angle.

Rear vehicle-body structure of vehicle

A rear vehicle-body structure of a vehicle comprises a wheel house provided at a side face portion of a vehicle-body rear portion, a side frame extending in a vehicle longitudinal direction on an inward side, in a vehicle width direction, of the wheel house, a suspension comprising a damper provided to extend in a vehicle vertical direction for damping a vertical load inputted from a wheel thereto and a bump stopper provided on a shaft center of the damper, and a suspension housing including a support face portion for supporting the damper and provided to connect the side frame and the wheel house, wherein the suspension housing comprises a peripheral wall portion which is provided to extend downward from the support face portion and enclose the bump stopper at least partially.

Suspension system

The invention disclosed herein comprises a vehicle having improved suspension systems for wheels, motorized wheels and the seat of the user. The wheel suspension system includes a sleeve housing a non-round core snugly surrounded by an elastomeric shock-absorption material. Since both ends of the sleeve have downstanding arms forming the forks supporting a caster axle, irregularities in the terrain encountered by the caster exert torsion upon the core; embedding the core in elastomeric material dampens the shock. The suspension system for the wheel assembly (including any motorized drive shaft) essentially includes pivot-mounting the wheel assembly (wheel-motor) beneath the chassis frame, so that irregularities in the terrain encountered by the drive wheel cause the wheel assembly to flex inwardly (for bumps) or outwardly (for holes); in the resting position there is an elastomeric bumper or compression spring horizontally mounted adjacent to a stop-plate on the pivoting cradle carrying the wheel assembly (or wheel-motor), so that further inward flexion is dampened. The seat suspension system includes elastomeric bumpers essentially acting as fulcrums, to dampen shock by absorbing it directly and by cantilevering the seat for further shock absorption.

Shock absorber assembly of a suspension system of a vehicle and suspension system

Suspension system of a vehicle and a shock absorber assembly of the suspension system, the shock absorber assembly includes a top mount and a jounce bumper. The jounce bumper includes a main body made of an elastic material, such as a foam elastomer or rubber and a fixing element made of a second harder material. The fixing element has a wall portion that extends around the outermost upper part of the main body and at least one elastic retaining area cooperating with a respective protuberance arranged in the top mount to fix the jounce bumper to the top mount. Between the outermost upper part of the main body and the fixing element there is a gap that enables the main body to expand radially also in the area covered by the wall portion of the fixing element when the main body is compressed during use.

Shock absorbing equalizer for suspension system

An equalizer for a suspension system includes a pivot arm pivotably connected to first and second plates at a pivot point, first and second bump stops connected between the first and second plates on one side of the pivot point, and third and fourth bump stops connected between the first and second plates on the other side of the pivot point. First through fourth shock absorbers are disposed between the pivot arm and the first through fourth bump stops, respectively.

A joint assembly couples a linear actuator to a body. The joint assembly includes a first body having a first surface and a second body having a second surface. The first body is coupled with the second body. The first surface and the second surface have arcuate configurations that are complementary to facilitate rotation of the first body relative to the second body about a first axis, a second axis, orthogonal to the first axis, and a third axis, orthogonal to both the first axis and the second axis. The joint assembly also includes a damper disposed between the first body and the second body and configured to dampen translational motion of the first body toward the second body in response to movement of the linear actuator relative to the body.
