Suspension system

A suspension system configured to sit substantially within the profile of a vehicle platform such that none of the elements extend substantially above the plane of the vehicle platform. The suspension system may utilize an adaptable transverse leaf spring in combination with other suspension elements, to allow the vehicle platform to maintain a generally flat profile and accommodate a variety of different body like structures while maintaining the desired roll and ride stability stiffness.

A suspension includes a housing, a radius arm, a radius arm bush, and a shock absorber. Inclination angles θ1 and θ2 satisfy ΔF.Math.tan θ2>M.Math.tan θ1, in which: θ1 is an inclination angle at which a straight line coupling the center of the radius arm bush to the center of a rear wheel is inclined to a horizontal line, to lower toward the rear wheel, viewed from a side of the vehicle in a steady state; θ2 is an inclination angle at which an axis of expansion and shrink of the shock absorber is inclined to a vertical direction, to allow the shock absorber's upper end to more forward from the shock absorber's lower end; M is an unsprung mass of the suspension; and ΔF is an amount of increase in a vertical load on the rear wheel from the steady state during a shrinkwise stroke of the shock absorber.

LEADING-EDGE STEERING ASSEMBLY

A leading-edge steering system is provided for a front suspension of an off-road vehicle. The leading-edge steering system is comprised of a spindle assembly that supports a drive axle assembly to conduct torque from a transaxle to a front wheel. A first rod-end joint pivotally couples an upper suspension arm and the spindle assembly, and a second rod-end joint pivotally couples a lower suspension arm and the spindle assembly. A steering rod-end joint pivotally couples a first end of a steering rod with a leading-edge portion of the spindle assembly. A steering gear is coupled with a second end of the steering rod and configured to move the steering rod, such that the spindle assembly rotates with respect to the upper and lower suspension arms. The leading-edge portion is configured to exert primarily tensile forces on the steering rod during travel over rough terrain.

Sensor component with a magnetic field sensor (2) for co-operating with at least one magnet (24, 26) and with a component structure (3), where the magnetic field sensor (2) is arranged on and/or in the component structure (3). In order to reduce the manufacturing cost and/or the assembly effort and/or to be able in a simple manner to position the magnetic field sensor (2) as close as possible to the at least one magnet (24, 26), the sensor component (1) is characterized in that the component structure (3) is in the form of a screw for producing a screw connection (15).

Suspension system for electric heavy-duty vehicle

Methods and systems are provided for an electric heavy-duty vehicle. In one example, a system for the vehicle may include a wheel hub assembly coupled to a frame of the vehicle via a first wishbone arm and a second wishbone arm, and an air spring coupled at opposite ends to a first link and a second link, each of the first link and the second link being pivotably coupled to the frame of the vehicle, the second link further being pivotably coupled to the first wishbone arm. The air spring may be positioned above the wheel hub assembly with respect to the vehicle.

TOE LINK SUPPORT AND METHOD OF SUPPORTING A TOE LINK

A toe link support is disclosed. In a first aspect, the toe link aperture of a hub has been bored out to receive inner and outer spacers. The spacers have bolt holes through which a toe link bolt is inserted to secure a toe link to the hub. The bolt is secured by a nut. The spacers protect the hub from damage by the bolt, and vice versa, resulting from motion of the toe link. In a second aspect, the outer spacer is further configured to be inserted into the bolt hole of the toe link, further protecting the bolt from damage. A method of supporting a toe link is also disclosed.

SUSPENSION SYSTEM

A vehicle suspension system includes left and right control arm assemblies each having a wheel mount structure, an upper control arm, and a lower control arm. Each control arm includes a first end configured to be pivotably connected to a frame structure of a vehicle and a second end rotatably connected to the wheel mount structure. The vehicle suspension system also includes a transverse leaf spring having an elongated body extending between the control arm assemblies, outer mounting brackets respectively connecting left and right ends of the elongated body to the left and right control arm assemblies, and one or more inner mounting brackets located between the outer mounting brackets. The transverse leaf spring is contoured such that a contoured portion of the elongated body deviates in a downward direction in order to extend below an electric drive system disposed within an internal space between rails of the frame structure.

MULTI-LINK INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION FOR VEHICLE, AND VEHICLE
20230173860 · 2023-06-08 ·

The disclosure relates to the technical field of vehicles, and particularly provides a multi-link independent suspension for a vehicle that includes a subframe and a steering knuckle. In order to solve the problem of reduced adjustment efficiency caused by mutual restraining of linkages of an existing multi-link independent suspension when a camber angle is adjusted, the multi-link independent suspension includes a spring control arm that is configured to adjust a camber angle of a wheel center. The multi-link independent suspension also includes a front upper control arm and a rear upper control arm. A central axis of the front upper control arm intersects with a central axis of the rear upper control arm at a Q point, and the Q point has the same coordinate as the wheel center in an X direction; and a motion centerline between the front upper control arm and the rear upper control arm coincides with a projection of a central axis of the spring control arm on an XY plane, so that a movement of the spring control arm has no effect on an upper control arm system when the camber angle is being adjusted. The steering knuckle only rotates about an X axis so as to drive a tire to rotate about the X axis, so that a camber angle of the tire can be adjusted without changing a toe-in angle, thereby reducing the number of affected linkages and simplifying the adjustment in the camber angle of the tire.

The present invention provides embodiments of modified upper and lower control arms for attachment to the steering knuckle that came with the vehicle, or for attachment to a modified steering knuckle of an embodiment of the invention, such that the steering knuckle, and in particular the wheel hub opening of the steering knuckle, are located at positions that are closer to the front of the vehicle than the positions provided by the control arms that came with the vehicle. The forward position of the wheel hub relative to the position provided by the factory or stock control arms moves the wheel and tire forward by the same distance, thereby allowing much larger wheels and tires to be mounted on the vehicle which do not rub against or interfere with the wheel well, fender or body mount, thereby increasing the approach angle of the vehicle for use in off-road climbing.
