The present disclosure relates to methods and systems in egg hatching, based on hatching eggs in a tray (2), comprising arranging eggs in a pattern in or on the tray, comprising egg supporting positions and holes together defining the pattern, wherein the holes are dimensioned to allow chicks (27) after hatching to pass there through into a crate (4), detecting at least one of numbers of unhatched eggs (22) in or on the tray; numbers of dead chicks in the crate; and numbers of objectionable chicks in the crate, and supplementing or removing chicks to or from the crate in correspondence therewith.

A ring clip for connecting two wire mesh panels. The clip has a first arm and a second arm. The arms connected at respective first ends by a hinge. A second end of the first arm defines a recess which is adapted to receive a second end of the second arm when the clip is in a closed condition. A cage and corresponding method for loading, transporting, and unloading poultry utilize a substantially vertical track attached to a leg or a sidewall to provide stability for a door of the cage throughout the door's entire range of motion. The cage is stackable and together with like cages can form an assembly of cages. The assembled stack of cages allows for several cages to share common components. Thus, the weight of the load during transport is reduced and more livestock can be transported. Shared components can include a roof and even a latching mechanism which prevents the door of each cage from coming open during transport.

A colony basket and method of using the same for handling poultry from DOC through the growing process and on to a production facility comprising a harvesting system, a loading system, a transport system, an unloading and storing system, hanging system and cleaning system.
