DYNAMIC LOAD TRANSFER BY SWITCHABLE AIR VOLUME SUSPENSION
An air suspension system which includes a Dynamic Load Transfer (DLT) function. DLT is a process of transferring vehicle load, or varying normal loads applied to each wheel of the vehicle, using switchable volume or variable volume air spring assemblies. Switchable or variable volume air spring assemblies have the ability to change air spring volumes, which results in changes in air spring rates, which result in changes in normal loads applied to each wheel. Changes in wheel normal loads change wheel traction (slip) and vehicle dynamics (pitch, roll, yaw displacement, rate and acceleration). Each air spring assembly may have multiple volume air chambers that are switched on and off, a variable volume air chamber, or the air spring assembly may be coupled with other air springs, or air chambers, that are switched or varied.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR VEHICLE LOAD MANAGEMENT
A system for vehicle load management including a processor and a memory in communication with the processor and including instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to receive a first indicator signal from a first sensor. The instructions further cause the processor to, based at least in part to the first indicator signal, determine a vehicle load intervention. The instructions further cause the processor to, based, on the vehicle load intervention, transmit one or more adjustment signals to cause one or more vehicle load adjustments to occur, the one or more vehicle load adjustments including at least one of at least one lire being inflated, the at least one tire being deflated, a liftable axle being raised, and the liftable axle being lowered.
Behavior control device for vehicle
A behavior control device for a vehicle includes: a first actuator configured to apply a vertical control force to a left wheel on a first axle, the first axle being a front axle or a rear axle of the vehicle; a second actuator configured to operate independently of the first actuator and to apply a vertical control force to a right wheel on the first axle; and a controller. The controller is configured to calculate a required value of a behavior parameter representing a behavior of the vehicle, convert the required value of the behavior parameter to a first required force for the first actuator and a second required force for the second actuator, and control the first actuator such that the vertical control force applied to the left wheel on the first axle becomes the first required force.
Method to control the active shock absorbers of a road vehicle featuring the lowering of the center of gravity
Method to control active shock absorbers of a road vehicle. Each active shock absorber is part of a suspension connecting a frame to a hub of a wheel and is provided with an actuator. The control method comprises the steps of: determining a longitudinal acceleration and a transverse acceleration of the road vehicle; establishing a desired lowering of a centre of gravity of the road vehicle depending on the longitudinal acceleration and on the transverse acceleration; and controlling the actuator of each active shock absorber so as to obtain the desired lowering of the centre of gravity.
Dynamic weight shift suspension system
A dynamic weight shift suspension system for shifting the tandem axle loads on a vehicle. The system includes a first airbag connected between the drive axle of a tandem and the vehicle frame, and a second airbag connected between a tag axle of a tandem and the vehicle frame. The system also has a mechatronic control unit comprising at least one port and at least one solenoid. The mechatronic control unit is in direct fluid communication with the airbags and an air supply via fluid communication lines.
System and method for load management
A method for analyzing and managing a vehicle load carried by a vehicle, the vehicle having a fluid suspension system, the method including sampling, at a manifold of the fluid suspension system, a set of fluid pressure corresponding to a set of fluid springs of the fluid suspension system, wherein the set of fluid springs supports the vehicle load; determining an existing stiffness distribution, the existing stiffness distribution including a stiffness value associated with each of the set of fluid springs; determining a contextual dataset during vehicle operation; determining a desired stiffness distribution based on the contextual dataset; automatically controlling the set of fluid springs at the plurality of actuation points based on the desired stiffness distribution, wherein controlling the set of fluid springs includes setting the stiffness value of the fluid spring associated with each of the plurality of actuation points.

Truck tire scrub intervention
A system and apparatus that reduces tire scrub on a truck and or trailer during turns. The system minimizes the redistribution of the load among the tires thereby spreading the load of the trailer or truck among the tires avoiding unnecessary overloading. The system operates without operator intervention and is capable of operating automatically on trailers, without control signals from the truck.
SUSPENSION DAMPING FORCE CONTROL SYSTEM AND METHOD
A control system configured to control a damping force of an actuator of an active suspension system of a vehicle in response to an external disturbance of a wheel with which the actuator is associated, includes one or more controllers and configured to: receive a sensed displacement parameter indicative of suspension displacement associated with the wheel; determine whether a condition is satisfied, wherein satisfaction of the condition requires the sensed displacement parameter to indicate a transition from a suspension displacing phase associated with the external disturbance to a suspension restoring phase associated with the external disturbance, and wherein satisfaction of the condition depends on an amount of suspension displacement indicated by the sensed displacement parameter; and output a signal to control the damping force to be greater, during the suspension restoring phase associated with the external disturbance, than if the condition is not satisfied, in dependence on satisfaction of the condition.
Method for operating a wheel suspension system
In a method for operating a wheel suspension system of a motor vehicle, a sensor checks the ground for the presence of an obstacle, as identified by a control device, and predicts for the obstacle a first value for an amount of electrical energy, which is to be converted from mechanical energy by an electrical machine, when a damping ratio is set with a defined recuperation value for a damper connecting a wheel to a chassis. The control device predicts a second value for a ride comfort and determines a third value for a decision criterion, which is a function of the first and second values. The identified obstacle is to be driven over with the recuperation value set for the damping ratio of the damper, when the value for the decision criterion corresponds to a target value.
