20210094380 · 2021-04-01 · ·

Some embodiments provide a vehicle climate control system for controlling climate conditions in various cabin regions of a vehicle cabin, where the climate control system is configured to control one or more vehicle components to change the set of climate conditions associated with one or more cabin regions to approximate a set of optimal comfort conditions. The climate control system controls various vehicle components to control climate conditions, including window assemblies, sunroof assemblies, etc. The climate control system determines optimal comfort conditions which optimize perceived temperature of various occupant body parts and maintain various climate characteristics within one or more sets of thresholds. Output configurations of various vehicle components can be determined based at least in part upon determined optimal comfort conditions of various cabin regions. Output configurations can be generated based at least in part upon various control mode priorities.

Air conditioning unit for vehicle

An air conditioning unit for a vehicle includes: an air conditioning case, a blower that draws air from an opening and blows the air radially outward from its rotation axis, a cooler disposed upstream of the blower, and a heater is disposed downstream of the blower. The air conditioning case includes an upper bypass passage through which the air bypasses the heater on an upper side of the heater, a lower bypass passage through which the air bypasses the heater on a lower side of the heater, a first opening provided downstream of the upper bypass passage, and a second opening provided downstream of the lower bypass passage. The opening of the blower faces an air outflow face of the cooler. A passage area of the upper bypass passage is larger than a passage area of the lower bypass passage.

VEHICLE AIR HANDLING SYSTEM FOR APPORTIONING AIRFLOW BETWEEN PASSENGER AND CARGO COMPARTMENTS

An air handling system for distributing airflow in a vehicle is disclosed and includes a passenger compartment configured to contain one or more occupants, a cargo compartment, and a flow regulating valve configured to actuate into a commanded position to apportion airflow between the passenger and cargo compartments. The air handling system also includes one or more processors in electronic communication with the flow regulating valve and a memory coupled to the one or more processors. The memory stores data comprising a database and program code that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the air handling system to receive one or more signals indicating a total available airflow rate available to the vehicle and a system configuration. The one or more processors instruct the flow regulating valve to actuate into a commanded position. The commanded position is calculated based on at least a target cargo airflow rate.

HVAC SYSTEM INCLUDING TWO-LAYER AIRFLOW COOLING MODE

A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system for a cabin of a vehicle. The HVAC system includes a control module configured to operate the HVAC system in a two-layer airflow cooling mode by: operating a blower unit to draw the inside air and the outside air into the blower unit, and blow the inside air and the outside air through the blower unit into an air conditioning unit; and operating the air conditioning unit to cool the inside air and the outside air, and direct the cooled inside air and the cooled outside air out of the air conditioning unit through only the face opening portion.

METHOD FOR OPERATING AN AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE INTERIOR OF A MOTOR VEHICLE
20210070133 · 2021-03-11 ·

A method for operating an air conditioning system, which may include a heating device, to condition air in a vehicle interior of a motor vehicle. At least one first air path and at least one second air path may each fluidically communicate with the air conditioning system and each open out into the vehicle interior. The method may include guiding the air from the vehicle interior via one of (i) the at least one first air path and (ii) the at least one second air path to the air conditioning system as a function of an operating state set in the air conditioning system. The method may also include guiding the air from the air conditioning system via the other of the one of (i) the at least one first air path and (ii) the at least one second air path into the vehicle interior.

HVAC SYSTEM OF VEHICLE

A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system of a vehicle increases air-conditioning efficiency by inhibiting a waste of cooling/heating energy by individually performing air-conditioning for seats, depending on whether there are passengers sitting in the seats and then increases the range of an electric vehicle due to the increase in air-conditioning efficiency.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE DISTRIBUTION OF AIR IN AN HVAC SYSTEM

An air distribution plenum for controlling air flow in a vehicle HVAC system includes an air inlet and first and second air outlets. A movable member substantially blocks the first and second air outlets when in a first position, blocks only the first air outlet in a second position, blocks only the second air outlet in a third position, and permits air to flow through both the first and second air outlets when in a fourth position.

A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system including a plurality of airflow control doors. A plurality of door gears are in cooperation with the plurality of airflow control doors such that rotation of each one of the plurality of door gears actuates a different one of the plurality of airflow control doors to control airflow through the HVAC system. A selector gear is moveable to individually rotate each one of the plurality of door gears to selectively actuate different ones of the plurality of airflow control doors. A power gear rotates the selector gear.
