Method and system for a vehicle sanitizing mode
Methods and systems are provided for heat sanitizing a vehicle. In one example, a method may include, while receiving power from an external power source and responsive to receiving a request for cleaning an interior of a vehicle, operating an electric heater of a heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system to heat the interior above an upper threshold temperature for a first threshold duration using the power received from the external power source. In this way, the HVAC system may be advantageously used to expose the vehicle interior to temperatures that kill or inactive microbes while vehicle battery power and fuel are conserved by using power supplied from the external power source.

A cooling assembly for a hybrid vehicle includes a first cooling system configured to cool an engine and a second cooling system separate from the first cooling system and configured to cool a plurality of electrical components. The second cooling system is configured with a first method of cooling at least a first electrical component and is configured with a second method of cooling at least a second electrical component. The first method of cooling is different from the second method of cooling.
Abnormality diagnosis device for blower system
An abnormality diagnosis device that performs an abnormality diagnosis on a blower system that sends air to a plurality of air receiving objects obtains a target operating state of an airflow control device that controls airflow to the air receiving objects, obtains a temperature detected by a temperature sensor that detects a first temperature as a temperature of air fed to a first air receiving object as one of the air receiving objects or a temperature of the first air receiving object, estimates the first temperature, based on the target operating state of the airflow control device, and performs abnormality diagnosis on the airflow control device. The abnormality diagnosis device determines that there is an abnormality in the airflow control device, when a difference between the detected first temperature and the estimated first temperature is equal to or larger than a predetermined first reference value.
Integrated thermal management system for mobility vehicles
An integrated thermal management system for mobility vehicles, may include a hybrid compressor including a mechanical compression unit driven using the driving force of an engine, and an electric compression unit driven using the driving force of a motor and configured such that an air blower is connected to the electric compression unit, a refrigerant circulation line fluidically-connected to the hybrid compressor, a condenser and an expansion valve such that a refrigerant circulates thereto, and an indoor air conditioning unit configured to cool or heat air introduced through the air blower and then to discharge the air to the inside of a mobility vehicle and including a cooling core connected to a point of the refrigerant circulation line downstream of the expansion valve of the refrigerant circulation line and a heating core fluidically-connected to an exhaust gas discharge line connected to the engine.
ACTIVE THERMAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS AND CONTROL LOGIC FOR HEAT EXCHANGER STORAGE OF REFRIGERANT
Presented are joint active thermal management (JATM) systems with heat exchanger storage of surplus refrigerant, methods for making/operating such systems, and vehicles equipped with such systems. A JATM system includes a coolant loop that fluidly connects to a vehicle battery system for pumping thereto coolant, an oil loop thermally coupled to the coolant loop and fluidly connected to a vehicle powertrain system for pumping thereto oil, and a refrigerant loop thermally coupled to the coolant loop and operable to circulate refrigerant for heating/cooling a passenger compartment. An electronic controller determines if a current amount of refrigerant in the refrigerant loop exceeds a calibrated threshold for the current operating mode of the JATM system. If so, the controller determines if one of the refrigerant loop's heat exchangers is available to store excess refrigerant. If the heat exchanger is available, the refrigerant loop stores excess refrigerant in the available refrigerant heat exchanger.
Heat pump system for vehicle
A heat pump system of a vehicle controls a temperature of a battery module by using one chiller in which a refrigerant and a coolant are heat-exchanged, and recovers waste heat generated from an electrical component and a battery module to use it for indoor heating, thereby improving heating performance and efficiency, and the heat pump increases a flow rate of a refrigerant by applying a gas injection part that selectively operates in a heating mode of the vehicle, thereby maximizing heating performance.
Thermal Management System, Vehicle and Method for Operating Two Cooling Circuits of a Thermal Management System
A thermal management system for use in a vehicle includes a first cooling circuit for cooling a battery; and a second cooling circuit for cooling an electric motor configured to drive the vehicle. The first and second cooling circuits are connected to each other: (a) in series by a multi-way valve in a first mode of the thermal management system and in a first valve position of the multi-way valve, or (b) in parallel in a second mode of the thermal management system and in a second valve position of the multi-way valve. In a third mode of the thermal management system and in a third valve position, the multi-way valve is configured to take up an intermediate position in which coolant flows of the first and second cooling circuits are mixed with each other as needed.
Blower motor operation
A method of operating a vehicle climate system when an ambient temperature is below a threshold temperature is provided. In response to an ambient temperature being less than a threshold temperature, a controller is adapted to operate a blower motor at a voltage that depends on whether the vehicle is in charge sustain mode or charge deplete mode. The controller operates the blower motor according to a first voltage responsive to a charge sustain mode, and operates the blower motor according to a second voltage different than the first voltage in response to a charge deplete mode.
