APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE DISTRIBUTION OF AIR IN AN HVAC SYSTEM

An air distribution plenum for controlling air flow in a vehicle HVAC system includes an air inlet and first and second air outlets. A movable member substantially blocks the first and second air outlets when in a first position, blocks only the first air outlet in a second position, blocks only the second air outlet in a third position, and permits air to flow through both the first and second air outlets when in a fourth position.

Air-conditioning register
10894459 · 2021-01-19 · ·

An air-conditioning register includes a retainer having an airflow passage, and a shut-off damper, which is pivoted about a damper shaft between opening and closing positions for the airflow passage. The shut-off damper has opposed side sections, which are opposed to each other with the damper shaft located therebetween, and a distal sealing portion. The distal sealing portion includes a curved surface and a planar surface. The curved surface is arranged on the trailing side in a pivoting direction of the shut-off damper towards the closing position. The planar surface is arranged on the leading side in the pivoting direction in a manner defining an acute angle with respect to an opposing direction of the opposed side sections. At least the planar surface is a textured surface having raised features each having a height of 110 m50 m.

HVAC SEALING SURFACE WITH NOISE REDUCTION CONFIGURATION
20200361274 · 2020-11-19 ·

Disclosed is an HVAC system configured to reduce noise. The HVAC system includes a door having a first and second end. The door includes an elastomer along the first end and a rotatable member adjacent the second end. The elastomer includes a door touch area. The case defines an internal case portion, external case portion, and a case opening fluidly connecting the internal and external case portion. The case is configured to receive the rotatable member of the door such that the door is rotatable about an axis between a first position, where the door covers the case opening, and a second position, where the door does not cover the case opening. The case includes a case touch area with a graining. The door touch area and the case touch area are substantially parallel and in contact along a surface contact area when the door is in the first position.

Universal mode plate
10821808 · 2020-11-03 · ·

A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system including an HVAC assembly, a set of pins, mode doors, a mode plate, an actuator, and an HVAC control module. The mode doors control airflow from the HVAC assembly. A position of each mode door is controlled by a corresponding pin of the set of pins. The mode plate includes (i) a set of grooves, (ii) a first adjustment path and (iii) a second adjustment path. The first adjustment path causes a first pin of the set of pins to move toward a center. The second adjustment path causes the first pin to move away from the center of the mode plate. An HVAC module selectively actuates the actuator to causes the mode plate to rotate in at least one of a passive direction and the active direction in response to receiving a mode request.

Vehicle cabin air register
10792976 · 2020-10-06 · ·

A vehicle cabin air register includes a tube shaped retainer disposed in a register opening, a bezel connected to the retainer, and a first fin axially supported by a pivot axis at an inner side of the retainer. A restricting mechanism restricts a pivot range of the first fin. The vehicle cabin air register also includes a second fin including a pair of second fin main bodies, an operation knob attached to a center portion of the first fin, a first flow path, and a second flow path. A minimum gap of the first flow path is narrower than a minimum gap of the second flow path. When the register is in a restricted state, the downstream end of the operation knob and the downstream end of the other second fin main body of the pair of second fin main bodies are positioned downstream of the bezel.

COAXIAL DOOR ASSEMBLY FOR HVAC
20200307349 · 2020-10-01 ·

A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) case for a vehicle. The HVAC case has a defrost outlet and a face outlet. A coaxial door assembly is configured to control airflow through both the defrost outlet and the face outlet. The coaxial door assembly includes an outer door and an inner door rotatable about a common axis of rotation.

Vehicular air conditioning device

A vehicular air conditioning device includes a damper and a unit case in which a shaft receiving hole is formed for supporting the damper. The damper includes a rotating shaft portion extending in an axial direction, and a plate-like first damper body extending from the rotating shaft portion. The rotating shaft portion includes a flange portion provided at only a partial region in the circumferential direction of the axis. The inner wall surface of the unit case includes an elongated protrusion, with which a first damper plate surface of the first damper body is contactable from another side in the circumferential direction, and a contact portion with which a second damper plate surface of the first damper body is contactable from one side in the circumferential direction. A radial space between a radially inward end part of the elongated protrusion and a shaft receiving hole is less than a radial size of the flange portion.

HVAC system inlet assembly

An HVAC system according to an example of the present disclosure includes a blower rotatable about an axis. The blower has a first blower section and a second blower section fluidly isolated from the first blower section. An inlet assembly at an axial end of the blower includes a first compartment configured to control fluid flow through the first blower section and a second compartment configured to control fluid flow through the second blower section.

Rotary shaft assembly with nested shaft

A rotary shaft assembly includes an outer shaft, an outer opening being formed on a circumferential wall of the outer shaft, and a nested shaft which is rotatably supported within the outer shaft, a nested opening being formed on a circumferential wall of the nested shaft. The nested shaft and the outer shaft are configure to be rotatable with respect to each other about a common axis such that a relative rotation angle between the outer shaft and the nested shaft varies.
