In a first mode, the control elements form the main cooling circuit such that the main cooling circuit can flow through the chiller, the energy storage device and none of the ambient air coolers. In a second mode, the control elements form the main cooling circuit such that the main cooling circuit can flow through the chiller, the energy storage device and at least one of the ambient air coolers. In a third mode, the control elements form the main cooling circuit such that the main cooling circuit can flow through the chiller, at least one of the ambient air coolers and the heat source.

A vehicle heat pump system is provided. The system includes a battery coolant line connected to a battery module and into which a coolant flows. A cooling device includes a radiator and a first water pump connected to a coolant line, to circulate a coolant in the coolant line to cool electrical equipment, and to be selectively connected to the battery coolant line via a first valve. A chiller is disposed in the battery coolant line, to be connected to a refrigerant line of an air conditioner via a connecting line, and to adjust a temperature of a coolant or a refrigerant by selectively exchanging heat between the coolant and refrigerant flowing into the chiller. An integrated control valve is connected to the refrigerant line and the connecting line to adjust a refrigerant flow direction and to selectively expand a refrigerant passing through the inside of the integrated control valve.

A cooling system is disclosed for controlling the temperature of a battery within a temperature interval, the system comprising a chiller and a chiller line arranged in heat exchange with said chiller, a heat source and a high temperature line arranged in heat exchange with said heat source, a battery line arranged in heat exchange with the battery, a pump arranged to convey a cooling fluid in at least one of said lines, a condenser and a refrigeration circuit arranged in heat exchange with said condenser, wherein a working medium is arranged to, in operation, circulate in said refrigeration circuit, wherein a valve is arranged to selectively connect the chiller line into heat exchange with the battery line so as to provide cooling of the battery, and a valve is arranged to selectively connect the high temperature line for heat exchange with the battery line to heat the battery.

System and method of controlling power distribution from charging source to electric vehicle

System and method of controlling power distribution from a charging source to an electric vehicle having a battery. The system includes a plurality of switches selectively connectable between the charging source, the battery and a thermal circuit. A controller is configured to control operation of the plurality of switches to provide multiple settings for the electric vehicle. The controller is configured to select from the multiple settings based on part on a trigger signal from a mobile application. The multiple settings include an external power mode, a charging mode, a discharging mode and a mixed charging and conditioning mode. The mixed charging and conditioning mode allows charging of the battery concurrently with thermal conditioning of at least one of the battery and a cabin of the vehicle. The mixed charging and conditioning mode enables a power split between a thermal conditioning power (P.sub.T) and a charging power (P.sub.C).

A heat pump system may include a cooling apparatus of circulating a coolant in a coolant line to cool at least one electrical component provided in the coolant line; a battery cooling apparatus of circulating the coolant to the battery module; a chiller for heat exchanging the coolant with a refrigerant to control a temperature of the coolant; a heating apparatus that heats an interior of the vehicle using the coolant; a branch line; a chiller connection line connecting the chiller and the first valve; and wherein the reservoir tank is provided in the coolant line between the radiator and the first valve, and is connected to the coolant line connecting the first valve and the first water pump through the supply line, and wherein a condenser included in the air conditioner is connected to the heating line to pass the coolant circulating through the heating apparatus.

An electric power converter device may include first and second housings separated by a fluid-impermeable plate, at least one power electronics unit electrically connected to an electric power input and output, at least one fluid chamber fluidically connected to a fluid inlet and outlet, and at least one heater electrically connected to the electric power input and output, the fluid chamber and heater thermally coupled such that waste heat generated by the power electronics unit may be used to heat a fluid flowing through the fluid chamber. The electric power converter device may have first and second operation modes, the waste heat being increased in the second operation mode. The first housing and the plate may form a first space area in which the power electronics unit and the heater may be arranged, and the plate and the second chamber form the fluid chamber with a second space area. The power electronics unit may form a DC-to-DC converter which converts a high voltage of 400 V to a low voltage of 12 V, wherein a heating power in the range of 3 kW to 4 kW.
