In the first state, the heat medium flows through the heat circuit, while flowing through the heater core, and in the second state, the heat medium flows through the heat circuit without flowing through the heater core. The heat circuit is arranged at a front of a passenger compartment, and the engine heat exchanger is arranged at a rear of the compartment.

The total mass flow of refrigerant is routed through the third heat exchanger when the temperature of the coolant is greater than an upper limiting temperature.

The first expansion valve is selectively connected to an outlet of the exterior heat exchanger, an inlet of the evaporator, and the seat coil. The second expansion valve is selectively connected to an outlet of the interior heat exchanger, an inlet of the exterior heat exchanger, and the seat coil air conditioning unit.

METHOD FOR MANAGING A THERMAL MANAGEMENT DEVICE FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE

A method for managing a thermal management device for a motor vehicle is disclosed. The device has a refrigerant circuit that circulates a refrigerant fluid. The circuit includes a main loop having, in the direction of circulation of the fluid, a compressor, a condenser configured to exchange heat energy with a first element, a first expansion device and a first evaporator configured to exchange heat energy with a second element. The device operates in a mode of strict cooling of the third element in which the condenser transfers heat energy to the first element and only the second evaporator absorbs heat energy from the third element. The method includes managing the open diameter of the first expansion device as a function of the ambient temperature so that the refrigerant fluid circulates inside the first evaporator, the open diameter of the first expansion device decreasing as the ambient temperature of the first element increases.

In one aspect, a vehicular refrigerant system includes: (1) a refrigerant loop having a compressor configured to compress a refrigerant, a condenser configured to condense the compressed refrigerant, an expansion device configured to enable expansion of the condensed refrigerant, and a heat exchanger configured to transfer heat from a liquid coolant to the expanded refrigerant; (2) a liquid coolant loop configured to transfer heat from an electronics system via the liquid coolant; and (3) a controller configured to: (a) obtain operating data regarding the refrigerant, the liquid coolant, and/or the electronics system; and (b) adjust operation of the refrigerant loop and/or the liquid coolant loop based on the obtained operating data.

The temperature detector is configured to detect a passage air temperature, the passage air temperature being a temperature of the conditioning air that has passed through the heater core. The controller is configured to selectively switch a circuit layout of the heat pump cycle unit between a cooling circuit, a heating circuit, and a dehumidifying-heating circuit based on the passage air temperature.
