METHOD TO CONTROL BATTERY COOLING USING THE BATTERY COOLANT PUMP IN ELECTRIFIED VEHICLES
A method of climate control in a vehicle, which includes cooling a battery and cabin of a vehicle at a target chiller-pump speed of a chiller, the target speed corresponding to a difference between a temperature of an battery and a target temperature of the battery, and wherein the target pump speed does not exceed a limit defined by a look-up table that identifies a capacity of the chiller by mapping the load and the difference.
Air conditioner for vehicle
An air conditioner for a vehicle includes a pump that draws and discharges a heat medium, a cooler core that exchanges sensible heat between the heat medium and ventilation air into a vehicle interior to cool and dehumidify the ventilation air, a heat-medium and outside-air heat exchanger that exchanges sensible heat between the heat medium and outside air, a compressor adapted to draw and discharge a refrigerant in a refrigeration cycle, a heat-medium cooling heat exchanger that cools the heat medium by exchanging heat between a low-pressure side refrigerant in the refrigeration cycle and the heat medium, and first and second switching valves that switch between a first dehumidification mode for circulation of the heat medium between the cooler core and the heat-medium cooling heat exchanger and a second dehumidification mode for circulation of the heat medium between the cooler core and the heat-medium and outside-air heat exchanger.
Method for controlling air conditioner compressor
A method for controlling an air conditioner compressor includes: driving the air conditioner compressor for a first time at a first revolutions per minute (RPM) smaller than a minimum lubrication demand RPM when a lubrication demand RPM of the air conditioner compressor is smaller than the minimum lubrication demand RPM; and driving the air conditioner compressor for a second time at the minimum lubrication demand RPM when the lubrication demand RPM of the air conditioner compressor is smaller than the minimum lubrication demand RPM after the first time elapse.
Air conditioner, vehicle including the same, and method for controlling the air conditioner
An air-conditioner may include an evaporator, a compressor configured to compress refrigerant supplied to the evaporator and a clutch configured to transmit power needed to operate the compressor to the compressor or to prevent power from being supplied to the compressor, wherein the clutch prevents power from being supplied to the compressor when an actual measurement temperature of the evaporator reaches a lower limit threshold temperature selected among the lower limit threshold temperature and an upper limit threshold temperature and the lower limit threshold temperature is changeable, and the upper limit threshold temperature is relatively higher than the lower limit threshold temperature and is changeable.
LIMIT FOR COMPRESSOR SPEED BASED ON INVERTER TEMPERATURE FOR AIR CONDITIONER IN VEHICLE
Methods, systems, and apparatus for a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system that limits the speed of the compressor to allow for the adoption or use of an internal heat exchanger. The HVAC system includes a compressor configured to drive refrigerant flow and an inverter configured to control a speed of the compressor. The HVAC system includes a first sensor configured to measure a temperature of the inverter and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to obtain, from the first sensor, the temperature of the inverter. The electronic control unit is configured to determine a range of speeds for the compressor based on the obtained temperature of the inverter. The electronic control unit is configured to operate the compressor within the determined range of speeds.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR COORDINATED CONTROL OF MULTIPLE TRANSPORT REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS
Methods and systems for coordinating operation of two or more transport refrigeration systems (TRSs) are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method includes a controller determining whether the first transport unit is stationary. The method also includes the controller identifying whether the first transport unit is in close proximity of a second transport unit when the controller determines that the transport unit is stationary. Also, the method includes the controller determining an executive control strategy for controlling the first TRS in coordination with a second TRS when the controller identifies that the first transport unit is in close proximity of the second transport unit. Further, the method includes the controller operating the first TRS based on the executive control strategy.
Vehicle Cabin and High Voltage Battery Thermal Management System
A vehicle thermal management system including an electric powertrain, a single thermal loop, and a controller is provided. The electric powertrain includes a high voltage battery. The single thermal loop is for managing thermal conditions of the high voltage battery and a vehicle cabin and may include a climate control system, a blower, and a front evaporator in fluid communication with the vehicle cabin. The controller is programmed to, responsive to detection of a climate control system off request, output a command to direct the blower to push air through a heater core to the vehicle cabin at a predetermined temperature such that a temperature within the vehicle cabin is maintained at a predetermined temperature and refrigerant continues to flow through the front evaporator. The system may include a vehicle cabin temperature sensor and an ambient temperature sensor, each in electrical communication with the controller.
ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT FOR AIR CONDITIONER
An electronic control unit is applied to an air conditioner, the air conditioner including a heating unit which heats a heat medium, a casing which allows an air flow to circulate toward a compartment, a blower which generates the air flow in the casing, and a heat exchanger disposed in the casing that heats the air flow by exchanging heat between the heat medium heated by the heating unit and the air flow. The blower air volume of the blower is controlled based on a first candidate value determined based on an estimated blowing temperature, and a second candidate value determined based on a required blowing air temperature and the estimated blowing temperature. The second candidate value is set as a predetermined value when a warm-up operation of the heating unit is completed.
System And Method Of Controlling Passage Of Refrigerant Through Eutectic Plates And An Evaporator Of A Refrigeration System For A Container Of A Vehicle
A system including mode, engine, and battery modules, where the mode module determines whether to operate in an engine mode or a battery mode based on parameters. The engine module, while operating in the engine mode, runs a compressor at a first speed based on a temperature within a temperature controlled container of a vehicle and permits passage of refrigerant through eutectic plates independent of the temperature. A battery, while in the engine mode, is charged based on power received from an electrical source. The battery module, while operating in the battery mode and based on the temperature, runs the compressor at a second speed and prevents passage of the refrigerant through the eutectic plates. While in the battery mode, the battery is not being charged based on power from a shore power source and the electrical source from which power is received during the engine mode.
HYBRID VEHICLE MOTOR COOLING
A vehicle utilizes an internal combustion powertrain to propel front wheels and an Electric Rear Axle Drive (ERAD) to propel rear wheels. In some circumstances, a controller may need to limit motor torque in the ERAD to avoid overheating the motor, which reduces fuel efficiency. To reduce the likelihood of needing to limit motor torque, refrigerant from the vehicle air conditioning system is circulated through the motor housing. In response to commands from a controller, a valve routes the refrigerant either through the air conditioning system evaporator or through the motor housing.
