Consumed energy and cost relating to control of a carbon dioxide concentration is reduced. Each of CO.sub.2 concentration control systems (100 to 105) includes a measuring unit (20) that measures a CO.sub.2 concentration, a CO.sub.2 absorption unit (30) that has a CO.sub.2 absorption material (31) for absorbing CO.sub.2 at a rate depending on the temperature thereof, and a control unit (10) that controls the temperature of the CO.sub.2 absorption material (31) by using exhaust heat of a power system (40), so as to control a CO.sub.2 absorption rate of the CO.sub.2 absorption material (31).

Apparatus and method for regenerating odor absorbent in a motor vehicle HVAC system

An apparatus is provided for regenerating an odor absorbent in a motor vehicle HVAC system. That apparatus includes a regeneration blower assembly that is connected between a heater plenum and a fresh air inlet duct of the HVAC system. Air is drawn from the passenger cabin of the motor vehicle through the heater plenum where that air is warmed. The warmed air is directed through the odor absorbent to remove odors and regenerate the odor absorbent. The warm air and the odors entrained therein is discharged through a fresh air inlet of the HVAC system.

A self-cleaning fan assembly is provided that can be used to automatically clean the assembly's heat exchanger or air filter. In use, once the system determines that the heat exchanger/air filter should be cleaned, for example based on the total operational time or the number of use cycles for the system, or based on the air flow passing through the heat exchanger/air filter, the controller temporarily reverses the direction of the fan, thereby reversing the flow of air through the heat exchanger/air filter and forcing out dust, dirt and other debris.
